I'm just trying to get people worked up.

  2. Quick question - anybody know which bass Adam's playing in this photo? Thanks guys!
  3. That's his Fender Precission. Probably one of the first Fender bass guitars (if not THE first) he got after playing mostly Ibanez's for their early career. Of course he continued using Ibanez's for a long time but he was clearly developing a taste for Fenders.

You can see it here too (unknown date):

And here (this is from 1980-10-18 - Brussels, the earliest dated appearence of the bass -to my knowledge, that is- , there are also other photos from that show and from the previous soundcheck if you click on the link above):

  4. Thanks for the info @LikeASong, I know I can always count on you to answer my questions . It’s a pretty cool bass, I like the color and simple design. The Lyceum gig from September 7th is an interesting one, definitely a historical bootleg! Very early U2 can be seen then.

Precissions are cool, just not as cool as some of his other basses lol Glad I could help.

That Lyceum gig is infamous for Bono being really mad at the audience, which wasn't engaging the way he wanted them to

It that Walk On music video (London version, newly remastered) the only time Edge has used an Orange brand amp? So weird to see it. Any other evidence of him using it?

That reminds me - & considering that we are celebrating 20 years since ATYCLB - I’m pretty sure in the Beautiful Day video Edge is ‘using’ Hiwatt amps. According to this article he was/is using a Hiwatt in the live rig (I’m guessing this is historically)

Now this reminds me that when I was 15 (when ATYCLB came out) & growing up in Leeds (UK) I’d often go to a great Guitar Shop (Northern Guitars?) & they ‘had’ the Hiwatt stack from the BD video - now, 20 years later, I’m guessing that it was probably a ruse by the shop & in fact this wasn’t THE stock used by Edge but was the model. Being a shy 15 year old I didn’t ask (blokes who work in guitar shops are to me quite an intimidating bunch - even now I’m 35!) about the authenticity of this claim - as I said I probably read it wrong. But certainly at the time i thought it was pretty cool that this shop had THE amps Edge was using.

Slightly off topic I went out & purchased Edges complete outfit from this video too - dark jeans, denim jacket, bright red shirt & I substituted Gola trainers for the Adidas.

Man I love that video - still their very best in my opinion.

It's almost never THE model unless you live in NYC, LA or London.

I already sent a cease and desist to someone who claimed last week Edge should abandon his AC30 for an Orange amp.
  9. That's the sort of emotions we are dealing with here.
  10. He should abandon his Vox amps for a Kemper
