1. Definitely something in the air that night. I suppose it was quite an intimate show as the arena is rather small.

I don't know the arena but it makes sense. Man, they really were on fire between March and May 1992. Some of that magic didn't accompany them into the summer and 1993.

I don't know if it was fatigue for a variety of reasons, but they made a lot of mistakes in the Zooropa leg from memory. Autopilot switched on probably.

  4. Yeah I know you like your audience in there, we are on a bootleg site so I do sound quite picky but it’s just because I can afford to be with all the great recordings out there. Thanks for they pointers as well, I’m sure I’ve listened to LA and Madison years ago but not Frankfurt so that will be new to me. When I first found this site I pretty much downloaded everything that was rated 4 stars or above but once I found the broadcasts etc I started to be able to pick and chose more, these are some great shouts from you and Kieran to get me back into some shows I’ve not listened to in years probably or ever in some cases.

Autopilot plus writing & recording an album at the same time = least memorable leg of your most memorable tour

I hope you like them! Tell me your thoughts on them when you've finished as I haven't listened to those in a decade or more, lol I might be wrong! And being picky with your sound quality is perfectly acceptable. It's great to enjoy listening to hidden gems with questionable recordings but sometimes you just want to blast a crisp clear recording out.
  7. I have been to quite a few ZooTV shows and and I think 3 Popmart shows and enjoyed both tours very much.
The sound at those Popmart shows was the best I head ever experienced at a concert up to that point. What I did not like was the choice of venues/sites they had booked (maybe for financial reasons) in Europe. A former military airport in Cologne with a terrible, rotten green with a lot of deep holes where you could hurt yourself badly and a parking lot in Hannover for example, both with bad facilities. However, the sound may have benefitted from those layouts.

I really liked both stages and that both tours where so different from each other, that they brought out something new and exciting after ZooTV - which I had not expected to happen after the last ZooTV show I had been to in Dublin.

One of the reasons why I rank ZooTV a bit higher is the setlist or "the flow". ZooTVs setlists flowed much better. They were perfect, at least for my taste, Dublin 28th, 1993 being the best of those I have been to.

Popmart had a great opening with Mofo and the screen coming in in all it's glory and everything was fine up to the encore. The Lemon-Remix, the Mirrorball Lemon itself...I was expecting a party and after Discotheque (which, for me, lacked the power of the studio version) they continued with Velvet Dress. Party over. Sort of anticlimatic.

I have no idea how the Popmart setlists could have been made better, where to place Discotheque or Velvet Dress. . And of course Velvet Dress after Discotheque made some sense. But for my taste, the show never recovered from it. They went for something different and played Pride early in the set. They tried something new and didn't get it right. Today the have Elevation and Vertigo - songs that the get a great crowd response no matter where they put them in the set, back then there where not that many like that that also would have fitted in the whole Popmart-concept.
  8. Everyone says Popmart sounded brutally good live

    Thanks for your experience Patrick

I’m sure I will enjoy them and I’ll definitely let you know, going to go in order of dates of the shows you and Kieran mentioned between you. Listening to most of AB live several times sounds exciting.

  10. why lol? you never read a negative PopMart review? Those were written by people that were there. Way more negative than anything Dean was saying.
And can you please stop reacting on me until you've made an apology for calling me a liar? I actually prefer 'stop reacting' over the apology.

    Just laughing at sheer irony.
  12. Was just about to pick this out. Seen a few comments now on how good the sound was at Popmart shows.
