1. Sorry guys if this topic has been here before.
But I’ve been listening to the Vertigo tour these days and my question is:
do we finally know - what was the technical problem with recording those two brilliant concerts in Milan - that we only got ten songs in the end?

Thanks a lot for any information.
  2. I don’t think it was intended to be a full length dvd. I’m only assuming

Why do you think it was a technical problem ? Unlikely. As previous comment stated it was just released as a bonus disc and not a full length gig
  4. There was always talk of the screen having had major issues during filming which meant a full release was never viable. I never dug any deeper than that. The sideways layout in the San Siro always looked spectacular.
  5. There was a problem and cameras Where NOT working Right … i dont remember Where maybe U2byU2 it has Bene revealed… still I bet they gave most of the show and could have a go with BluRay but they opt to wait till we are all dead and no one will care anymore
  6. I like it just the way it is.
  7. It could have been down to the Chicago and U23D releases that they felt there was overkill and no need to release another stand alone concert commercially .
  8. I’m going to hazard a guess that they did have plenty of footage to use and as popmarter has just said they simply opted against a full show. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the 5 songs they played in Milan that weren’t on the Chicago dvd are all on the milan dvd. 5 from 10 is quite a big number so they’ve obviously wanted to give us as many different songs as possible. It seems to be a tactic they’ve liked since then. You could go back to elevation even as Slane and Boston have significantly different Setlists for u2 standards. For 360 rather than give us a full show in audio alongside the rose bowl they preferred to give us more than 40 different songs between u22 and from the ground up. For i&e/e&i we had all the album tracks, a few of which were tour rarities or didn’t feature on the Paris or Berlin DVD’s. It is a strategy I like I must admit for the number of live releases they do we get a big chunk of songs covered rather than too many duplicates. Full shows are great but if they had released say one of the other paris nights for I&E rather than the live songs of innocence and experience we wouldn’t have had official versions of the troubles, California, Crystal ballroom or volcano live. That’s just one tour example.
  9. I seem to recall reading Willie Williams and the band werent happy about the quality of the footage.
  10. And I understand them.
  11. It's a bit of a weird one this one... I remember when U2 were on 60 minutes here in Australia in 2006 for the 5th leg of the tour and there was footage from Milan taken from Streets and Sunday Bloody Sunday.

They obviously have all or most of the show tucked away somewhere. Would have made an amazing full show! If it was a visual issue hopefully we get the full audio one day
  12. I would have loved having love and peace or else from the Milan concert on the dvd and released as audio with U218 singles
