1. Good grief it’s good
  2. I wish Edge would “yell” Ultraviolet when he sings backing vocals instead of singing it high like he has been since 360. Hard to explain but I loved the punch of the loud singing as opposed to the reserved high note singing

Now it's performed with him singing along to his own vocal on the original recording. Bono also refrained from singing along in the chorus on the 2019 leg of The Joshua Tree leg too which lost it's power a bit.

Is it? I never noticed a backing vocal on it. I think it worked particularly well on 360 with Bono doing the more prominent ultra Violet and edge singing the higher notes. As you mention Bono didn’t quite give it his all in that bit for JT2019, maybe at a few shows in 2017 as well. It is one part of the song I probably prefer the zoo tv version but Bono wouldn’t be able to do the ‘ooh’s’ that smoothly anymore so roles reversed is a better option for modern takes on the song I think when done right. I love every version of it though, it’s such an excellent song.
  5. My fav live song from from AB probably

Yeah, you hear it sometimes in IEM mixes. Agree about the 360 version, I think the song was much more realised on that tour and improved live, yes it was great on ZOO TV no doubt but it lost some punch on the Zooropa leg in my opinion. It's defiantly up there with my favourites of the band.
  7. Their performance of this song at my first show ever in Chicago 2009 to start the encore, Bono in full laser jacket glory, might still be my favorite U2 live moment ever. I just love it.

I think Edge has always sung it like that, with the "reserved high note" (aka falsetto). I don't recall him shouting that part - unlike Bono did in 2009 and 2010, which -I agree with Adam and Ben- adds more punch to that part.
  9. this song is probably the best U2 song ever
  10. This was the song that grabbed me immediately upon the album's release and still is an absolute classic to this day. Maybe the best on the album. "One" is still...well, "One" (and absolute all-timer) but has suffered from the inconsistent (and arguably too-frequent) performances over the years. UV has remained a beauty for 30 years.
  11. I never 'got' UV like the rest of the fan community did.
