"We were coming out of the Scorsese film 'Goodfellas'. While waiting for our car, a fellow came out of an alley with a small pistol and fired at the ground. The film had sort of anaesthetised us. I looked at the fellow. Hard. Then we got in the car and halfway my wife asked if the fellow hadn't aimed at us. Suddenly we felt sick. You can now assess the effect of violent films: they sort of immunise you against violence."

In late 2004, "Mercy", an unreleased track taken from the How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb sessions, surfaced on the Internet through a fan who had been given a copy of the album containing the extra track. The track is of less than standard audio quality, but managed to become a favorite on fan websites.
