*Recording location: Sec 208, (UPPER DECK, LAST ROW)

    *ORIGINAL Notes:
"the show is a phenomenon. the recording? Ehhhh. It is a fair
categorization of the event but not a fantastic recording.
the sound was pretty bass-y but the upper registers were kinda....
the word that comes to mind is 'brittle'. It sounded clear but
from where we were, kinda thin- ish and, well, 'brittle'.
I taped 5/22 from the lower bowl but that recording was overdriven
by bass and at the apex of the stage, we had lots of reverb.
So this show was a 'lessons learned' of sorts, and I had a 40hz
LowCut filter. And on that note, "Joey Ramone" experiences an
    auto-filter bump at 01:09. "The Wanderer" is clipped at 4:26 - 4:29
due to me bumping the recorder against the seat. I hope you dig the
show and hope you get to see the show!"

    #REMASTER notes:
Why remaster a "not fantastic recording"? Why remaster an excellent
recording! But to answer the first question truthfully, I remastered
this one because I saw potential in it. Or, to put it differently, in
my opinion this recording wasn't fairly represented as it would already
benefit from some easy volume adjustments and balancing.
The "brittle-ness" the taper mentioned was countered to some extent by
applying a generic broadband equalization from my (old-skool) Pristine
Sounds. Additional equalization was used to further smoothen this listen.

    REMASTER NOTES:
Another remaster? Yes! And again it's a recording made with a ZOOM microphone set (IQ5), this time connected to an Iphone 6+ (see info) by usc1995. At first sight this recording may appear to be the lesser of the two LA 5 recordings, but after some tweaking of various levels, I believe it came out to be (at least) "on par" with the mixter recording. Enjoy!

    ORIGINAL NOTES [usc1995]:
"So this is just my second recording [Section 225, row 19] ever.
My first was at the May 26 show but it was just ok and not worth
sharing in light of the others shared here. This one came out better
although the gain on the mic was set a bit low. I ran the lightning
cable extension to my hat where I cut a hole for the mic. They really
mixed up the setlist so it makes for an interesting show. There was a
long break before "Every Breaking Wave" as The Edge’s piano was
malfunctioning and Bono was stalling for time by chatting away.
The recording is good for what it is but it doesn’t really compare to
a “real rig”. Hopefully you guys will enjoy it."

    NOTES:
"This one came out better than I thought it would.
Overall I think this is a decent recording.
Although the crowd near by is pretty loud at times,
there are hardly any audience comments, at least for
the first half of the show it remains remarkable quiet.
With Mysterious Ways & Elevation things got a bit rough
qua screaming and stuff, but I was able to remove the
"OMG, Mike [...] got pulled up on stage" for the "meercat-
    thing."
At points this recording is remarkable clear and steady
(e.g., Song For Someone) but in the more up-tempo songs,
the high frequencies tend to break away, typically where
Larry's cymbals are, giving it a bit of an "outdoor" feel
(this effect of air moving accross the mics - either by
wind, crowd movement or movement of the mics themselves -
could be minimized by using so-called windscreens, if only
self-created from old nylons or socks!).
But certainly in comparison to the Montréal 2 mixlr
recording, this one certainly sounds better overall!"

    NOTES&THOUGHTS:

Perhaps it is fair to note that with this third mixlr-broadcast
"bootleg"# a new dimension in audience recording has come about.
And because it is all so new, I would like to take a little more
time and say a little more than usual regarding what's at hand.

In short, the idea of "mixlr" is that someone attending the concert
has a smart phone with recording capacity and enough battery power
+ sufficient internet access to stream the audio in real-time to a
music player located on a website (i.e., mixlr). In effect creating
an internet radio station to which potentially (I think) the whole u2
fan community can tune in to. And just like in the days of radio and
tape recorders, people at home can simply record the stream and play
    them back at their convenience.
The result is quite literally a "wall" of sound but with additional
equalization it is possible to restore some of the original dynamics
(e.g. "bass" by amplifying the lower frequency range)
The main problem of these particular recordings is the amount
of compression and additional gain that the smart phone recorders
seem to produce in order to get as much sound as possible in the
(still) limited amount of data that can be transmitted through
internet. The result is quite literally a "wall" of sound but with
additional equalization it is possible to restore some of the
original dynamics (e.g. "bass" by amplifying the lower frequency
range) and this, in brief, is just what I did.
But as I started to say, this is all very new and I didn't think
such things were even possible by the time the tour left Vancouver.
In fact I don't even know the people who actually held their
smart phones - or however they did how they did it! I don't even
know what type of smart phones they use, what kind of internet
connection they would use (4g? wifi?) or if they used some kind of
external microphones (if only their Apple earphones with some kind
of improvised nylon as a microphone windscreen...).
In this sense it is all very postmodern, but I believe we never-
theless all share the same intention of connection and togetherness.
For me personally this last point is what U2 has been all about from
day one: there is no "them," there is only us - and together we are
a world in which peace has a serious chance.
So, before I start to cry I would like to say a few more things about
this particular recording. It is not as "surprisingly" good as the
Chicago 1 pull from zooradio, mainly due to some more upclose (however
not too personal) conversation and screaming in comparison to the earlier
mentioned Chicago "mixlr" recording, including a heartfelt "Germany and
Brasil...what's up!" On the bright side this recording contains the first
ever performance of Lucifer's Hands which in effect makes this the perfect
punk-rock party. In addition, the Moment Of Surrender "excerpt" leading
"in and out" of Bad is also by no means to be sneezed at...
With some serious re-tuning of the full frequency band, also known as
"equalization" (e.g., I've boosted the lower frequencies quite severly
to make the bass more audible) and applying some stereo effect, I think
I've managed to make this recording as ZOO-able as possible.

DOUBLE PEACE to wherever you ARE and may the ZOO be with U

HATS OFF & CHAPPEAU 2 mysteriousdays for broadcasting this concert live and
uninterrupted. I just hope to help you shine...!

    NOTES:
Another mysteriousdays-stream captured, mixed and mastered.
Again, it's not as good as a real "rig" (or a ZOOM!) but it is
certainly worth of "bootlegging," if only for the fact that a
REEL rig hasn't surfaced as of yet (that is, with Chicago 12
hours behind us and already represented with recordings of each
    night!).
And apart from its documentary value, it is quite a good iPhone
recording after mixing. It is only a very LOUD one with lots
of up-close screamers... But, it also contains some amazingly
good tracks, e.g. Invisble, Song For Someone.
I'm not sure if this recording is best appricated on speakers,
but if it may one day be played loud on a distant and sunny shore,
    I'll be perfectly happy!
THANKS "zoo" mysteriousdays for broadcasting the show live to the
world... SPECIAL THANKS to u2start for hosting possibly the first
    of many more SMARTphone-recordings/broadcasts.

NB: it is of course the MEDICAL cannabis that was hinted at...
And the phrase was taken from one of the previous Montréal shows.

    REMASTER NOTES:
The reason for remastering the addemotte source,
which is less clearer in comparison to the nokis, is basically
because the nokis source has one main disadvantage: a pretty
"annoying clapper/whistler/yeller/talker" who, according to the
taper, "seemed to follow [him] around the red zone." (u2torrents)
And while the addemotte source is also not free of crowd rumble,
wistling, etc., I found it far less distractive (OK, apart from
EBW...). Anyway, it was relatively easy to bring more clarity in
this recording. Only challenge was to balance Bono's vocals evenly
out across the left and the right. It might not have used the best
possible solution, but the Nero Goldwave "Stereo-processor" actually
    worked pretty fine for me.
For now I will share only a lossy version of this remaster, mainly
to avoid confusion in the traders pool (as the "lossy-ness" of this
    remaster is easily detectable).
Ironically the title of this bootleg - "Confront Man," taken from
our u2start setlist party of Chicago 1 - would apply even better
    to the Nokis-source...

    *ORIGINAL NOTES (ademotte):
"This is a 16/44.1 file set, which can be burned directly to CD. A 24-bit,
    high-fidelity version has been posted separately. The recording is seamless;
the disc breaks above are merely a suggestion."
"The second of five nights in Chicago; significantly different setlist from the
prior night and a very passionate performance. Bono frequently shook his head in
amazement at the reaction the band was getting from the audience, and he clearly
felt it was a special show."

"Recording quality is pretty good; I got as far to the side as I could to capture
as much of the overhead PA as possible - the recording came out better than I
expected, though there is occasional chatter from neighbors and passersby on the
floor. I haven't listened through the whole thing yet, but I didn't notice anything
that was disruptive enough to get in the way of enjoyment of the music."

"Anyone who would like to remaster, de-clap, etc. this recording and repost it is
welcome to do so; in the info file, please document the original source and what
you did. Mp3 samples are included in the comments."

    #ORIGINAL NOTES (nokis):

NOTES: luckily mysterious days was also present in Toronto
and again she did a marvelous job streaming the show through
her iPhone via mixlr to the whole wide world.
Slightly oversteered recording levels but compensated, perhaps,
by a very up-front Bono. Not too much screamers or nearby talks.
Unfortunately one singer in close proximity of MD joing the
"Give Peace A Chance" chant at the end of Beautiful Day.
    But otherwise a decent mixlr-recording.
BIG THANKS to mysteriousdays - you did it again and we cannot

d.p.o.r. A nice uninterrupted stream with not much nearby
conversation and only a couple of screams. Sounds gets muffled
now and again which made it hard to improve the recording much
by eq'ing. Only boosted a little of the bass and topped-off
some the sharp highs. All in all a quite good mixlr-recording.
THANKS to "radio" d.p.o.r., the boys & girls @u2start and all

    NOTES:
One of the better u2 mixlr-broadcasts [in my opinion].
Perhaps best to be compared with an AM broadcast, recorded from a club rather than the MSG.
But there is also clarity and presence. And although the audience can be pretty loud in-between
songs, screamers and upfront talkers are rare.
NYC#7 was in many ways a "fun" show, starting early with Bono's "The Beatles are Irish" and his
joke about the Englishman in New York. This is also the show with the "Boo-lady" from Virginia and
U2brother's 3rd appearance on stage - a record, at least within one leg or even one tour! Bono,
with respect to u2 bro's 36 u2 shows: "Thanks man...36 shows [...] we owe you!"
Further noteworthy specials are, of course, Satellite Of Love (feat. Lou Reed) and Paul Simon
joining the band for Mother And Child Reunion.

THANKS to all the mixlr's and periscope-broadcasters for having
made the American leg of the i+e' tour so globally accessible!
SPECIAL THANKS to u2start for hosting this "bootleg"...
