And if they don’t? What if they don’t even have the songs picked out yet?

The reason we don’t have that information is they don’t care. There is no urgency. That’s the real reason we’re at the stage we’re at with no information 7 months in. Not because they don’t know, they chose not to know by not demanding answers themselves. If I ran a business and sold a product to a customer it’s my job to chase up the supplier as an owner if it doesn’t arrive on time and my customers complaint lies with me not the supplier. That’s the way it works. Livenation might be the middle man but it’s their job to satisfy their customers. Anyone who thinks the position we’re at with the gift this year is acceptable 7 months into the year is lying to themselves. They might be more patient, I can believe that as we’re all different, but nobody can say they are meeting a satisfactory standard.

Then livenation are doing a crappy job of getting the goods from their supplier and therefore providing a crap service to its customers.

Then why do you keep subscribing? Every year you moan and groan about the gift. Yet you resubscribe every year expecting a different experience.

Your whole argument is based around the fact you think they are late. Because you think the gift should be out by now. There’s every indication the team at U2.Com don’t think it’s late. Have you asked them if they have a deadline? They routinely get gifts out in the back half of the year. The only year they ever suggested they were late was the year it looked like the gift wouldn’t be out by the end of the year. They don’t promise a date. They say the “gift” is for the subscription year. They certainly haven’t done anything to suggest it’s due seven months in. Five recent gifts came out in August or later.
You argue with anyone who suggests they are happy with the state Of the gift, suggesting we are lying to ourselves. You do this over and over again. I’ve stated my expectations. I want my gift before December 31. I don’t want to have to chase them for it. I am perfectly content to wait for a bunch of 30 year old songs that I’ve probably got lying around on bootlegs anyway. I’m not lying to myself. I’m being quite honest. In the grand scheme of things I really don’t care. Nor do I think it’s late. Nor do I have any concern I won’t get it. It’ll be here, in the next four months, in one form or another. And when I get it I’ll be happy to listen to it.
If the gift doesn’t arrive by December 31 I’ll join you on the cranky side of the fence, because then I didn’t get what I think I paid for. I’m already cranky that I subscribed for a double CD and they changed the offer after the fact. I’m far more cranky about that than the fact you think it’s late.

My point is I don’t care what their deadline is or what they consider late. I don’t care what they’ve done in previous years either. My point is very simple, 7 months after announcing the subscription gift it should already be in our hands. That is more than long enough. They’ve proved they can get it done earlier. The stage we’re at just now is unacceptable. If u2.com’s deadline is just ‘before the end of the year at some point’ that is unacceptable. When you sell something to people it’s your job to meet their standards it’s not our job to settle for their standards.
Whether you’re happy or not regarding the gift is besides my point. I don’t know what can possibly make you happy about it at this stage but that’s up to you. What I come across and often leads me to questioning others is some fans saying why we should be patient and just accept the way u2.com do things. If my criticism is going to be questioned then I’m within my rights to question peoples content about the situation, it’s the same thing just reversing the perspective. People can chose to ignore my complaints and then I wouldn’t need to question where they’re coming from in return. There’s nothing worse than complaining about something and being told in return to be patient or just accept the situation because ‘it is what it is’ essentially. That’s the whole point I want ‘what it is’ to change. I’m not patient about the situation, mainly because the patience gets sucked out of you waiting on a u2.com gift.

that...that is the question that worries me, it makes no sense that something as simple as that has not been granted to us, that it even seems that they have not even started it
