I really feel like this Vegas residency (and Bono’s solo tour) are only going to keep us from moving on to the next phase of U2. If the Vegas stuff is postponed to 2024, that pushes back the entire album/tour timeline.
That’s exactly my point, I don’t want vegas delaying any new album and tour plans.I think there’s maybe a 2-3 month window vegas could be delayed by where it wouldn’t effect the new album and tour because if the band were planning on releasing the brand new material in December 2023 or January 2024 then I don’t think a February or March release would stop them being able to tour it in 2024 still. However if vegas had a 6 month delay or more then yeah I think a new album wouldn’t be out til the very end of 2024 with a tour to support it in 2025. Unless they just played 1 leg in 2024 and leg 2 in 2025. But simply put I don’t want them delaying the new album or tour for anything and think that should be the priority but I reckon the bands priority might be vegas which is disappointing/frustrating.

Vegas won’t be delayed at this point I don’t think. It’s being announced in a few weeks. Time lines are set not only for U2 but five follow up acts to use the space. If the venue is delayed six months U2 won’t be opening, simple as that. They aren’t going to reschedule all of those artists. And likewise I don’t think you’d see U2 waiting around for a venue to open and holding their own plans.
  3. who's on after U2 ? Are they a big enough name to open it ?
  4. Harry Styles is rumored to be in talks to have a residency there after U2
  5. He could open it
  6. MSG Entertainment still saying the Sphere is scheduled to open in September (from Hollywood Reporter and Business Wire):

Madison Square Garden Entertainment also provided an update on the MSG Sphere, saying that it is expected to open in September and that the company is in “active discussions” with artists for residencies and is targeting four to six headliners a year.
  7. I dreamt about the announcement last night, so it must be coming soon. I remember the social media banner (Bono had his new weird haircut) and the video announcement - band members were shot separately directly facing the camera, speaking after one another, but the faces were morphing into the faces of the lookalikes they hired - the special effect was pretty impressive. Larry was there and was in a pretty joking mood. Sadly no details about the pricing…
  8. Da fuck is that
