It's the 4th show and things start making sense. I really love Washington from the same leg, but it was late May, Do You Feel Loved was no longer part of the show and some performances were improved.
In this case, it was just a week from Las Vegas and it seems like a month, by the way some songs have evolved.
These early PopMart shows are amazing, probably even better than the later ones.

NOTES: My personal DATmaster from Popmart tour. Taping location was in the lower bowl on the right side, 1st section so I got pretty good sound from the hanging orange stacks. My recording has circulated before from analog copy and is torrent is an upgrade to the version found here which is surely my recording - http://u2torrents.com/torrents-details.php?id=4791.
No post-processing has been done to this recording. This is a fresh digital transfer of the original master DAT tape. We made the 350 mile drive to SLC earlier that day and got to the stadium in time to catch a little of the soundcheck (which wasn't that interesting) but it was kind of cool hearing U2 ringing through the afternoon in the largely hillside residential neighborhood area where the stadium is located so I included a snippet of that.

This was recorded by a friend of my friend Jack, from Salt Lake City. He knew that the microphones were Neumann KM-184 cardioids but didn’t know the exact DAT recorder, possibly a Sony TCD-D7 but I don’t know the preamp / phantom power supply used. My original track indexes on disc two were in error, so I had to combine those tracks in Audacity and engineer new track splits. Thanks John for the help with the new indexes.

what they said
"We weren't getting anywhere until 'One' fell into our laps and suddenly we hit a groove."
- Adam on recording Achtung Baby
did you know
'40' from the War album almost was never recorded. The band (minus Adam Clayton who had left the studio) had gone over their booked studio time, but convinced the studio manager to let them record '40'. The Edge plays both electric and bass guitar on the song. It was a last addition to the album, but has closed many shows over the decades.
