Performance notes: After the "your eyes make a circle" verse of I Will Follow, Bono adds "into the heart, into the heart of a child". Also, Edge breaks guitar strings during both Sunday Bloody Sunday and Angel Of Harlem - in the former, Bono sings "I won't heed the battle call/Edge broke a string, it don't mean nothing at all", while after the latter, he comments that he sometimes forgets Edge is human. what they said
"It's the album I am very proud of. The songs themselves, the lyrics, the melodies, the hooks, we were really onto something. The name Pop is absolutely perfect as far as the artistic intent but it's the least pop in that sense. It stood the sense of time, it's really unique sounding."

The versions of A Sort Of Homecoming and Bad included in the Wide Awake In America EP sound like live recordings but they were actually recorded during two soundchecks of the Unforgettable Fire tour in Europe. The audience noise was mixed in afterwards.
