setlist

Performance notes: U2 open the 51st Grammy Awards with the live debut of Get On Your Boots. At the start, Bono shouts "the future needs a big kiss" and a prerecorded intro leads into the song, sampling both the "let me in the sound" passage and Bono singing the melody of The Star Spangled Banner.

Performance

Not bad for a live debut. But it seemed like they were trying too hard to get it right the first time by using a different arrangement, like the different intro and the conga drums (I think) from Larry. It may have been better if they tried to play it as it was on the album (for most of it) and then slowly discovering what needs to be changed, and so having it ready for the start of the tour. Also the transition from the chorus to the 'let me in the sound' bridge was weak.

Sound

Disappointing for a TV broadcast. Badly mixed, and the crowd was a little too loud (could be because they were probably close to the cameras etc.). It sounded closer to an excellent audience recording.
Recording: FM Aerial Broadcast - 5 stars

Audience

Good for a general crowd, quite enthusiastic.

Overall

It's nice to have since it was the first time they played it, but it's not a keeper. The tour performances are most likely gonna be a lot better, and by then I have probably already forgotten about this performance.
