Comments: This concert is often listed as taking place on 24 August 1981. This is incorrect. The Greenbelt festival was 28-31 August 1981, and U2 played in the early evening of the 30th. Their appearance was squeezed in at the last minute and they performed with borrowed instruments and equipment. Setlist and comment provided by U2gigs.com.

"Numb is the sound of the inside of somebody's head, with a great lyric and performance by Edge. It is a relentless portrait of what he was feeling at the time and what a lot of people were feeling in the wider world about media. He was in that spot but it became a great metaphor for the media overload generation incapable of feeling anything for the pictures you see."

"All Along the Watchtower" was recorded in Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco in front of what many consider to be the ugliest sculpture in the city. Bono's spraypainted words required a formal apology from the band and were removed within days.
