Performance

After a rough start with 'Gloria' where Bono sounds very unstable and has several cracks or moments where his voice is airing out, the song gets stronger for him while the band stay tight and energetic throughout the show.

Funnily enough, one of U2's more controversial songs, 'Rejoice' is one of the stronger songs of the evening, having Larry drum his ass off while Bono actually sounds strong and confident for a change, hitting fantastic high notes in the process! 'An Cat Dubh' is a seriously great version with superb harmonies and more powerful vocals by Bono. Some of the Edge's guitar work sounds almost experimental and made me appreciate this version even more! As the song nears its end, the band let it cook even more and Bono adds a few unstable lines of Blind Faith's 'Can't Find My Way', a very fitting snippet that I haven't heard before! 'Into the Heart' is a beautiful end to the first few songs of the show.

'I Threw a Brick' is pretty solid and solidifies that Bono's voice has settled down by now. 'The Cry' and 'The Electric Co.' are the usual energetic combination with the band rocking hard and Bono adding many fun adlibs as well as doing the usual "Send in the crowd" gag before sending the song into its finale. 'I Fall Down' sees Bono sounding a bit rough around the edges but nothing too bad, the band is once again playing well. 'October' begins with a few off notes but soon is the typical tight performance; 'With a Shout (Jerusalem)' is solid apart from a few cracks by Bono.

'I Will Follow' sets off the final third of the main set with another energetic performance from everyone. 'Twilight' sees Bono returning to his former unstable self during the verses and while the first chorus starts off decently, his voice soon starts breaking up. 'Out of Control' is a bit more solid again with Bono embellishing lines pretty well.

The encores are great with the audience even joining in a bit more and the band putting in a great performance once more to finish the song with a bang. The Edge plays a few bum chords during '11 O'Clock Tick Tock'.

Sound

While the audio quality even gets halfway listenable at some points of the recording, it's simply awful on other parts and makes listening to this show more ear torture than anything else.
Recording: Audience microphone - 2 stars

Audience

The audience sounds incredibly passionate, even cheering LOUDLY after the 'October' tracks and especially going off for the 'Boy' songs. Really good for such an early show! Apart from that they're not doing much so three starts seems fair to me!

Overall

Not the best show to do if you got the time for one!

Highlights: Rejoice, An Cat Dubh
