1987-09-22 - Foxboro, Massachusetts - Sullivan Stadium

setlist

Performance notes: Bono's arm is in a sling after dislocating his shoulder two nights earlier in Washington DC. It restricts his movement somewhat, but he has to wear it for the next few weeks. The first show without the sling is not until 20 October 1987 in Iowa City.

Performance

First show after Bono's injury, and of course, he doesn't play guitar.

Many problems at beginning, during the second half of Streets, Bono sounds out of tune, during I Still Haven't Found, Edge probably have tecnical problems at start of the song, and confused the band (Larry stops to play and you can hear someone calling "Adam!!! Adam!!!), during the song, Bono was wrong too (Hearing this performance of I Still Haven't Found... I remember New Year's Day in Washington 1992-08-16 ). During The Unforgettable Fire, Edge made a mistake on keyboards... Everything was wrong, but after ths moments, U2 finally start to play like the real U2 with good performances of Bullet The Blue Sky, Running To Stand Still, Exit, Sunday Bloody Sunday, etc...

Overall

All headed to be an awful show (isn't a better thing to hear a show with bad performances of Streets, I Still Haven't Found and The Unforgettable Fire at the beginning of the concert), but the things improved after this and the concert became a real U2 show.

Highlights: Trip Through Your Wires, Bullet The Blue Sky, Running To Stand Still (sounds good without Bono's guitar, I like it), Sunday Bloody Sunday Helter Skelter and One Tree Hill (because was on setlist, but not a really cool performance)

Lowlights: Awful start, Where The Streets Have No Name (is very rare to see this song in Lowlights), I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and The Unforgettable Fire
