Although Bono starts off the show in a slightly unstable stage, he sounds strong and powerful from the start, delivering fantastic performances of 'Where the Streets Have No Name' and especially 'I Will Follow' with many great embellishments throughout the song. Both 'I Still Haven't Found...' and 'Out of Control' are superb, the latter featuring more fantastic embellishments and very energetic musicianship by the band except for one pretty bad bum chord played by The Edge halfway through the song.
Unfortunately, the next musical dud follows during 'The Unforgettable Fire' in the form of a short row of bum notes by Adam (it happens again towards the end) and the whole song sounds a bit unrefined for some reason, however Bono sounds fantastic in the end, belting out the finale with great rasp in his voice. 'Exit' is luckily a return to GREATNESS as it DRIPS with energy and power! 'In God's Country' is solid. 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' sounds fricking amazing with a superb build-up, Live Aid like vocals and great crowd participation.
Next in the set is a Beatles duo in the form of 'Rain' and 'Help!', both of which sound great with the audience again joining in! Although Bono struggles a little with the B4s in 'Bad' it's still a great rendition with lots of energy and passion dripping out of the band. 'October' sounds great with Bono again embellishing lines; 'New Year's Day' is another superb performance with Bono skipping both belts but NAILING those verses amazingly and adding an extra verse! The main set ends with a strong 'Pride'.
The encores consist of an awesome 'Joshua Tree' triplet, starting off with a blistering rendition of 'Bullet the Blue Sky' which gently transitions into a gorgeous 'Running to Stand Still' until it ends with one of the big songs of the album, which Bono sings beautifully as well. '40' ends the show greatly, featuring more great audience participation and Bono adding more insane belts on his part.
Sound
A bit distant and boomy but still quite solid for the most part. Recording: Audience microphone - 2.5 stars
Audience
Greatly enthusiastic and very particitave crowd. 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' was bloody awesome with everyone singing along!
Overall
Overall another great show on the 'Joshua Tree' tour with great performances but also minor lowlights, mostly due to sloppy musicianship. 'Out of Control' is a welcome setlist addition and with only 12 performances not too common on the tour.
Highlights: I Will Follow, Exit, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bad, October / New Year's Day, 40
