If ever I am asked to pick between Joshua Tree Tour and Lovetown, I will pick Lovetown in an instant. Shows like this are why. The band are amazing, playing every song brilliantly. Bono says he's still having throat issues but it does not show at all.
Amazing quality, no complaints. Recording: Soundboard - 5 stars
Hometown gigs are always good, and the Point Depot shows have possibly the best audiences ever.
This show is excellent, all the Point Depot ones are. This is seriously one of the best things you will ever listen to. Not one of the best U2 bootlegs, one of the best things, in all the world, that you could listen to.
Bono is very chatty and funny throughout, especially during God Part II and When Love Comes To Town. All performances are great, and Edge's backing vocals are very strong, especially on "40." There are a lot of times on this boot, like All Along the Watchtower, where Larry is just totally killing it. Truly spectacular stuff.
I believe there is a snippet of 'Burning Hell' by R.E.M. in Desire that isn't listed, but it could also just be Bono coincidentally sounding the same. If you like snippets (I like snippets) go ahead and add it. Bono messes up a line in Two Hearts Beat As One but give him a break, it's been four and half years since they'd played it last and anyway, it's still an awesome version, Adam's standout track in this bootleg.
Top 5 Highlights:
- Where the Streets Have No Name
- The Unforgettable Fire
- God Part II
- All Along the Watchtower/Like a Hurricane
- Van Diemen's Land

"I hoped this record would change people's perception of the band. This was U2 evolving and really opening up, bringing light and shade and experimentation to the music."
