1. Some recent discussion over use (or overuse) of Auto-Tune in music..and *gasp* the use of it by Bono. I honestly don't care if it's used here and there, and in some instances it adds to a song. A round of applause to Cher for putting it on the map.. imagine if the lads had used it on Pop 🤔😳
  2. Baby T Pain is great:

  3. Bait taken, but I think I spewed enough of my venom for this lifeless poison that has infected R&B, Top 40...but not so much in rock, that I don't know what else to say...despite being a loud mouth. If Kanye West or T Pain or whoever does it, Bono and Andy Set The Bar Low probably think it is a unique way to get some of that relevance. The would not view it as I would as an old band resorting to young artist tricks to make them sound like everyone else.
  4. Bono used the "English Accent" on Boy so....
  5. let's say that in little things at least it is distinguished that the use of autotune is not excessive, in love is all we have left not only did it go well, but that was its purpose, although strange
  6. after these "good things", I don't think bono will use autotune again, maybe other effects
  7. and I say "good things", because everything went well, or not so badly.
(if bono uses autotune again I'll really be surprised)
  8. I recall Mark Ronson devoted the entire first episode of his "Watch The Sound" series on Apple TV+ to 'Auto-Tune', giving some fascinating insights into its origin, evolution, use and effects. It and the entire series is well worth a look.

I am tempted, but I'd rather watch a documentary on how Auto Zone was able to offer free tools and free battery tests. I could possibly make a Auto Tune doc by driving up to any club frequented by anyone under 35 or so. Every single car in the parking lot would have a different song, but the voice would be either exactly the same, or very similar. No cars would be playing U2, none playing Stevie Wonder, none playing Prince, no Police, not even They Might Be Giants. And someone like me would not be able to identify the artists even if a soundboard collection of every Lovetown show was at stake.
  10. It's funny that Lovetown is mentioned, as that was the tour where he had the most (live) vocal effects going on.

Other than that I think there might have been a slight touch up here and there in recent years but no heavy auto-tuning imo. Apart from LIAWHL, where it is indeed on purpose
  11. I’m just astounded by the claims I’ve seen on here from some that billions and billions and billions of artists have used autotune. Really? Half of the world’s population has used autotune? Fascinating.
