Saw Kendrick Lamar in Detroit the other night. Awesome show. Considering it was U2 and Kendrick collaborating together back in 2017 that really got me into him, it's been fun to see him live now a couple of times.
On Sunday I went to the Forever Now festival at Milton Keynes Bowl yesterday. Artist I saw was P.I.L, Billy Idol, The The and the headliners Kraftwerk. Never seen Kraftwerk before, always been on my bucket list. They sounded amazing, didn't disappoint.
Funny thing is it was exactly 40 years to the day I saw U2 there, I was 18 then. I stood in the same spot, that would've been just between Bono and Adam's position. To commemorate the date I bought a U2 'Longest Day' replica t-shirt with the date on the back. Had a few comments from people about the date coincidence. Even a nice guy from Nottingham said he was there too. He saw one of the sphere shows. We ended up next to each other for Kraftwerk's set. When the gig was over I said to him jokingly "Lets see if we can get everyone to sing How Long to sing this song, just like we did back in'85 all the way back to the coach. He laughed at that and we said safe journey back home. Went our separate days.
Saw OMD last night. Those guys are older than U2 but act younger? Good show.
Opener was a band from Glasgow called Walt Disco. I thought they looked like almost literal children, but when I googled afterwards, the band seemed to have been formed in 2016. I feel old.
