1. I still like the album. It's not their best, but definitely not their worst IMO. I think 13 (There Is A Light) is beautiful. Love Is All We Have Left, GOOYOW, Little Things and Blackout are the other songs I usually play.
  2. I think it's pretty good
  3. SOE is also somewhere at the bottom of my U2 albums list. SOE doesn't feel like a band album to me. I miss the passion, energy and enthusiasm. Little things, Book of your heart are nevertheless really good U2 songs.
  4. Each to there own of course but I rank it as one of their better releases, and think it’s a perfect companion to SOI. Perhaps I’m won over more by the concept than the execution but the idea of these songs being letters to those he loves makes the album seem a lot more cohesive than previous releases. It still gets a regular play by me.
  5. I like this album too and still listen to it but have to admit I do skip some tracks depending on my mood and my only complaint is that the track listing should be revised. It's a great pairing and follow up to the previous album.
  6. I like this album although the only song I still regularly listen to is Love Is Bigger.

Doesn't really help that LIAWHL, Landlady and 13 sound like B sides.

I still feel angry about the lazy effort they did in other songs that I'm not even going to mention anymore, as I try to forget they even exist.
I now put this album as the worst U2 album so far. October still has the charm of four young boys finding their sound, and HTDAAB at least doesn't have the line "what we had is not coming back, Zack".
Sorry if this sounds too negative. I still love SOI, though.
Add Love Is Bigger and Book Of Your Heart and I sadly agree with this post.
  8. Love is Bigger was really powerful live. As was 13.
  9. Am I the only one who does'nt like Love is bigger? Suitable for a karaoke bar

Based on the BBC show, I had high hopes for the E&I tour. But for me the songs with orchestra on tape sounded so very fake.
  10. It's definitely not one of my favorites, but there are a few songs I really enjoy. I appreciate the idea behind the album and I think Bono had said he approached the songwriting process almost as if he wouldn't be around to hear the songs at the end. So, with that in mind I do enjoy some of the straightforward lyrics that I normally wouldn't like that much. I believe SOI was a more focused and cohesive album than SOE which is more like a collection of songs rather than an album. Then again, Bono did say the songs are letters to different people, places, so maybe that's why the flow isn't perfect, because the theme and the feeling are different for each song. My favorite songs: Lights of home. Summer of love, The Showman (I wish they'd also include an electric version as well), Little things and Love is bigger. Why Book of your heart is only a deluxe song is beyond me. To each their own, but I think we can all agree that the band recorded some really great great songs in the innocence + experience era overall.

That song proved it's worth live. If you didn't see it live, l can't do anything for you.
