1. Definitely don’t suck. I’ve had more fun relistening to these shows than any of the EI 3018 ones I saw, or even the JT tour for that matter
  2. I find it difficult to read what some people produce here – experts and connoisseurs, educated professors, all the while acting as flagbearers going with the wind

be ashamed, no matter how many hundreds of concerts you've attended

    shame on you
  3. Be ashamed for what?
  4. I’d love to create a quiz of snippets from different live songs . To see if people actually recognise the difference between Larry & Bram
  5. Oh there are several songs where you can hear a clear difference, but I don't think it has been a bad thing. Bram has put his own twist on the songs, which I have enjoyed. No he's not the boss, the leader of the pack, the founder of the band etc etc etc, but he's been playing solidly through these shows.
  6. some of you people are pretty conservative in their approach to the band setup, but you must not forget that the band as a whole signed off on this, for many reasons. It's a big thing to play without Larry and they know, and most of all Bram knows this. But the band is eager try new things, try new technology and most of all to stay relevant. If you say it's not U2 without Larry, you might be right. But if you want to be angry about this, be angry at Bono, Edge, Adam, and Larry.
There is a very nice recent podcast with the Bram/Larry's drum-tech Don McAulay where he talks about how the band and Bram approach these shows:

I would be able to identify who is playing, but this is no criticism towards BvdB.

Oh please. They did it for the prestige of being no.1 in the Sphere, and the money didnt hurt.

This isnt like Chris Martin or Springsteen stepping in due to Bono's injury. This isnt replacing Adam in Sydney for one night. We're talking 40 shows. I would not be so sure Larry wasnt outvoted on the matter. Lest we forget this is a band that delayed tour dates for Bono on 360 tour or Edge on Vertigo tour. You can bet these Sphere dates would NEVER happen if Bono or Edge had the surgeries.

You're stating the obvious. It's far easier to replace a drummer or bassist (depending on the band) than a lead vocalist or guitarist. Bono and Edge arguably have the biggest personalities of the band. It's quite obvious that any band would want the prestige and money of opening the Sphere. By all accounts all members of the band had to sign off on the Sphere plans but if you want to think Larry was outvoted 🤷‍♂️
  11. I'm fully a confident it was a situation of Larry telling them to go ahead and play the shows.
  12. Imo, everyone is replaceable except Bono…
