    2 questions.
    1. What was the year of Edges Washburn from the 80s?
    2. What were Adams main Bass Guitars on the JT tour?

the washburns vary. There was more than one. The one in the Red Rocks VHS is a 1982-1983 EA40 Woodstock Festival Acoustic. The number for that model changed later and became EA20 - which is the model number for the one seen in the ZOO Sydney DVD.

Main bass guitars on the Joshua Tree tour... I know that 1972 Fender Precison (with a lot of the finish worn off) was a mainstay. The 1973 Fender Jazz Bass that was just auctioned would be another. The Zon Legacy bass was on the tour and listed in the tourbook or Musician magazine... something like that... but rarely used. Musician magazine also lists the Ibanez Musician bass but I don't remember seeing that used in any video or any shows I attended.

    [YouTube Video]

Edge is playing the auctioned 1975 Gibson Les Paul... auctioned in the 2007 Icons of Music auction. Bono is playing a Washburn EA40 Woodstock Festival acoustic, similar (if not the exact one) to the one Edge is seen with in the "I Still Haven't Found..." video.

Pretty special, I'll say (I share the same birthday as the great man, if only 85 years apart - I'd like to think that's kinda cool lol)

the `70's reissies are pretty great. Another option is one of the cheaper Fender Precision or Jazz bass guitars that are made in mexico (MIM). The MIM stuff, Strats, Teles etc are all decent instruments. NOT the Squier MIM stuff. It's not so good but the Fender MIM Jazz bass with maybe a pickup upgrade... and et voila... decent bass.

I guess it all comes down to playing needs and budget.

Yeah, they are quite good. The thing is that you can't find 70s pick up spacing on them. And I think they have ceramic pick ups, and alnico is the thing I love. I don't really need another bass, but those 70s reissues looks awesome.

More cool Les Paul goodness... Yeah, Les Paul is still playing pretty great, from all accounts. I showed these pictures to my buddy Nikhil (nikhil korula band http://www.nkband.com/ ) and Nik told me that Les Paul was kind enough to sign his LP too! Nice.

Seriously check out Nikhil's band. Great band. Great guys. Nikhil Korula band just played the Bonnoroo Fest and played the South By Southwest Fest a few months back... and Dave Matthews hand picked them to open some show from him in San Diego and LA last year. So yeah, Nikhil Korula Band ain't no average garageband at all.

    Check em out!

Your friend's band are great Jeff! I don't usually go for their genre, but it's so easy to listen to and relaxing, I'm loving it

They are like mixing Dave Matthews with Paul Simon with loads of other things. Nik loves U2 also. I have to say, when they play shows... tons of folks and not one ass not moving and dancing. It's seriously just happy fun music that heals the soul. If they are ever playing near you... GO... Good times indeed.

Do they ever come across the pond to the UK lol? And yeah, Paul Simon, that's what I had on my mind - I couldn't put a finger on it, but that's what I had in m'head!

(is "The Way Things Work" the only album they have at the moment?)

Got another question for you if you have the time - have you ever known of Edge playing left-handed??

I found this on u2exit, and was immediately struck by it lol.

I'm not sure if Nikhil has played the UK yet. Check the shows sections at:
    www.nkband.com
    and
    www.myspace.com/nikhilkorulaband

If you check their site, they have an album and an EP of covers and rarities. I think the next album in in the works right now. I was at some of the sessions for the first album. Nik invited me to Oceanway Studios on sunset while he tracks some vocals. By the way... a lil band called U2 used the studio for some of Rattle and Hum. There is even a R&H album award up in the lobby.

Edge playing left handed? No. That picture you showed is a reversed photo. I've seen a few like that. And I must say that is one that that frost my balls - when sites... and more than that... BOOKS get the pictures flopped. Very unprofessional.

Aha grand, I had a feeling that it was a case of retarded photomanship or whatever one wishes to call it

I do genuinely hope your balls don't frost over though!

I'm gonna see if I can get hold of their album on Amazon
