1. I only just bought & listened to it yesterday, but so far, I would agree that Animal is the best.
  2. ^ Rats and Dissident are also top tracks, Vs. is the best album PJ ever did imo.

  3. Yeah, I'm really getting into this band. Even downloading bootlegs too and listening to them.

    Is Vitalogy any good?

  4. I mean this with all due respect, I find it interestingly weird that you are just now hearing Vs. for the first time. I, obviously, am older than you and spent a lot of time enjoying this album when it was released. It's a classic. If this is your first PJ album, get either Ten or Vitalogy next. Yield is also quite good. Proceed carefully with anyting else. Their other '90s album, No Code, is a bit ... different. A few good tracks at the start but the second half isn't too memorable.

vitalogy is a bit eclectic and varied from what i've heard (i don't own it, but i've heard most songs) so it's a bit of a mixed bag. ten and backspacer are their other two blinders imo.

Well, I've had Ten for about 2 or 3 years now, although I never really paid much attention to it. I only bought it for Even Flow and Alive. So yes, they are one of those bands I've never paid attention to. This makes it my second Pearl Jam album. I don't usually like paying attention to bands that I've never really listened to, because sometimes it gets boring and I end up switching it off and changing the song. But Pearl Jam have kept me going on, and I'm really enjoying Ten and Vs. Might have to buy Vitalogy soon...

Agreed, Vitalogy is a bit different. To be honest, if you had Vs. and Rearviewmirror (their double-CD Greatest Hits from 2004), you'd be doing quite well.

Oddly enough, both Vs. and Vitalogy are having deluxe editions released this month.

  9. Yeah, I realised. Bit expensive though, otherwise, I would buy them. It has a full live album on the 3rd disc too.

P.S. We should really move this to the Pearl Jam thread...
