1. Dire Straits are amazing - epitomise the sound of classic rock, Mark Knopfler's playing is phenomenal, he combines virtuousity with musicianship - something very few guitarists manage to do.

    IMO he is better than guitarists like Clapton, SRV, HendrixSatriani, Slash etc as I value musicianship - ie. composition and contribution to the song's feel above sheer virtuosity - which is why I think so highly of Edge.

    Talented at songwriting too.

    The Police are decent, don't really think much of the whole British reggae thing though.

    Unfortunately, I associate Dire Straits with that dated video for "Money for Nothing" and don't have a lot of appreciation for them. The Police, although good, I always thought were a bit overrated. Just one man's opinion, however.

  9. Did you hear his new album? It didnt impressed me much to be honest.

  10. Basically none of his solo work has impressed me much since Sailing To Philadelphia, which is a superb album. But I've been wanting to see him live since ages ago, I'm not missing him agan this time.
