    50 shows in The Netherlands
U2 has a rich history in The Netherlands. From their first concert in 1980 to their
last in 2010, U2 always has had a special connection with the Dutch.
In this slideshow we will browse through U2's rich history in The Netherlands, that to date consist of as many as 50 shows:

A Sort Of Homecoming - flashmob on the first show, 8 Sept
Cleared with U2's management: "We want to give U2 a warm welcome by colouring the Ziggo Dome red, white and blue. We will place red, white and blue paper and instructions on the seats of some blocks near the stage. We ask everyone to held up the paper once the band appears on stage. By doing so a giant Dutch flag will appear. Not in a seat with red, white or blue paper? Or in possession of standing/Red Zone ticket? In that case you can use our app [link to follow tonight] to show red, white or blue on your smartphone. Together we can make this an unforgettable event! Hopefully it will be A Sort Of Homecoming for U2. Who knows, they might even play that song."

    Amsterdam fan meet-up, 11 September
Meet-up with U2 fans and U2start members & crew in Amsterdam, the day before the third U2 show in town.

We meet on Friday 11 September at The Tara (Rokin 85-89), an amazing place located in a monumental building in the heart of Amsterdam, a 15-minute walk from Amsterdam's Central Station. We will start ordering drinks around 19:30 PM, but you're also welcome to join us a bit later if that suits better.

  2. Having not buy the ticket yet I'm split which night I should go to. Not that there's that much setlist rotation, but in your opinion if you were going only to one of the Amsterdam nights which one would you go to?

I have seen them on the 1st night in Dublin in 2009 and it was amazing. Then I also went on the 3rd night in Dublin and it felt different (less excitement?)

    What do you guys think?
  3. First night in Dublin was a Friday, the third was a Monday. The Monday show was a lot more relaxed. Just a different type of crowd. I enjoyed both equally though.
  4. On this tour so far, the best shows (rated by reviews) have been night 1 and/or 2. Of course highly subjective and arbitrary.

I would either go for the first or the last.
  5. I saw two first nights, a third night, a fourth night and every other show in new York. The last show in Chicago and new york were the two best shows by a mile, followed by new york one and Boston three. I'd take the last night any day of the week
  6. Many thanks for your input guys! I think I'll go for the last one in that case!
  7. ^^ mmmmh....... mmmmmmmh...... well...... I cannot decide....... mmmmh...... so I guess I have to go to all 4 shows and then see which one is best.......
  8. Night 4 will be a Sunday evening concert. Often this triggers the band in something special... And too, the only other 4th night in Holland was in Rotterdam 1990 - perhaps the best show ever by U2 in The Netherlands (true, this was also a tour ending show, and, according to some including myself, also the closing of an era).

Anyway, if I could go to only 1, I would choose night 4...

Thanks, BigGiRL, I didn't know that about Rotterdam '90 show.

It was indeed the closing of an era... Amsterdam I, 2009, ranks very, very highly in my book. Band was in scintillating form, especially Bono.

Agreed with Amsterdam 1, 2009. I remember coming home after that night and thinking it would be impossible to top it. And then cam Amsterdam 2... with the relocation of One and three tour debuts, including Bad...

Yes, Amsterdam II was amazing. Also much better facilities in the arena, more space in GA (which was horrible with A'dam I).
