1. took the sigma out for a ride in the zoo! I had fun testing it, encountered some problems that are probably due to my lack of knowledge... and took home a couple of shots I'm actually proud of (even though they might be rubbish from a technical/professional point of view)

here the focus went unintentionally on the blades of grass and not on the sleeping lynx... but somehow that made it look kinda dream-like?

the biggest problem I encountered was that the focus often decided to pick the still background instead of the moving subject in front of me (I picked AF-A in my settings), but like I said, I suppose that was a mistake on my part
  2. ps: these shots are entirely unedited.

  3. Some of these are truly fantastic Jana Well done.

    PS. Poor elephant
PPS. The "dreamy" effect with the foreground being in focus and the animal being blurry is a brilliant point!
  4. thank you, sergio! so far it's only dumb luck
  5. Some great shots Jana!

  6. thank you, remy!

quick story: after I came back from the zoo I went by or local kebab shop to pick up some dinner. while I waited, one of the staff behind the counter noticed my camera and asked "you take pictures?" I shrugged and said, "well, I'm learning."

promptly, the guy struck a thinker pose. I was a little too slow to react, but figured okay, why not, and raised my camera. when he realized I was really about to take a picture, he went "oh, no no!" - sorry, sir, snapped one anyway

  7. Great shots Jana, I'll just type it out again !!

Here are two pics of Cologne:

Ok. I'll share some (very) amateur shots of my favorite subject (how do I add more than one photo to a single post?)
