1. Unfortunately I’ve previously underrated this one it is in fact a 10/10 not a 9/10, well in my opinion anyway.
  2. "I thought my head was harder than ground
I can see the lights in front of me"

I haven't noticed, but this guy is making fun of almost dying in his bike accident...
  3. This has got to be one of U2's toughest songs, lyrically. I always like songs where Bono lets you see 'behind the curtain,' and see that this guy he is onstage, preaching faith during uncertain times and advocating worthy causes, sometimes has his faith and his world rattled around just like anybody else.
  4. Agree with folks that hear the Burn the Witch vibe with the St Peter's string version, but please remember the true source for both inspirations, the end of the A Day in the Life - truly epic!
  5. Lights of Home
I was born from a screaming sound

    Out of Control
    It was one dull morning
    Woke the world with bawling

Bono brings it home with this album.
  6. I can totally see this music in a movie soundtrack

I still like it, but I kinda look at it as an unwanted child...

    ok...

I had absolutely no idea who the hell was this Haim guy, and for some reason I just assumed it was some famous rapper.
Obviously, I never had listened to his song 5 where the riff was originated.

But since I'm loving this track so much, I had to check the original song.

So I went to YouTube and... oh boy... obviously I wasn't expecting that AT ALL.

I checked the studio version which sounded cool, but most importantly, it totally allowed me to free myself to be myself and enjoy Lights of Home guilty free: The riff is clearly there, is great, but the song sounds nothing like LOH. So, yes, I don't care anymore about this riff being sampled.

    Now, on the other hand...
...after listening the song 5 (in studio) I went to check the live version, and wow... I'm totally impressed!, I've been checking another couple of live songs and I'm enjoying it a lot. Have they released a live album yet?

When they sample other artists, I think we can be rest assured and know they will create their own song and only pay an indirect "homage" to the inspiration.
When they sample themselves they can be quite... blunt...

    c'mon... YOU

    ARE

    ROCKNROLL!!!

    Still loving it

(And I'm still convinced that American Soul IS Glastonbury and is Volcano the one making a small reference to it - "but that's another story...")

Anyway, I wasn't sure how prominent was that riff, so I had to check and I'm glad I did.

BUT... I think in the album it works great this way.

However, I'm totally interested in a codaless edited version, I agree it would've been a little more better.

I'm gonna fire you a PM soon.

btw, I said that I wanted one angry song, and then I said I didn't got my descendant of Cedarwood and Bullet... well, obviously I was wrong. Between the sampled riff and the more uplifting coda, I totally forgot about this one.

This one (specially minus the coda) works good enough as the angry song I wanted.
