1. After a few listens, it‘a 3 for me.
3 really good tracks, only 4 songs that I would rate as complete trash and a lot of u2 by numbers.
Not that bad after all these years and the SOI fizzle
  2. 5 out of 5, I'm a big fan of pop and this to me is as pop as they've ever been.
  3. 4.5
  4. Solid 4 out of 5. It's really great but certainly not perfect and I think ultimately it's not as much as an event of an album like Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby. But many of the songs sound more fresh than U2 has been in over 15 years.
  5. I wonder if age has any correlation with how much one can connect with this one. SOI being mostly about youth, I liked that one better than SOE and it's more "experienced" lyrics/narratives (I'm in my early 20s). 13 makes me think of my mom so I like that one but GOOYOW and LISTATIIW don't really leave an impact.

The Best Thing is ironically the worst thing about the album and I can't call it a great or even good album with that song on it lol. Average for me.

to some extent, I'd say yes.

I still like SOI a little more better than SOE, so that part is a "no" for me.
But I'd agree based on nothing substantial that the more introspective tracks are harder to relate to depending on your age.

I’m 22 and SOE hit me like a truck whereas SOI had little emotional impact on me in comparison (even though I really like the album). But then again I’m really old inside haha

yeah, then it'll be totally up to each person, their experiences, and their willingness to relate to it...
  9. 5/5
