  1. Considering Auckland is selling their second show at snail pace, and it "sold out" the first show a lot quicker than Melbourne, I feel like there definitely won't be a second Melbourne show.
  2. Melbourne does have a population that is 3 times the size of Auckland though. I think it was also selling pretty well, a bit quicker than Sydney from memory. If you asked me when the tour was announced, I'd have said Melbourne was assured of two shows. Now it's anyone's guess.
  3. Live nation Facebook post says that tour dates are now finalised so it confirms no 2nd show
  4. For some reason I find that very unsettling.
  5. So, the post mortem begins. Whats gone on here then? Fast selling first show...Maybe they have been put off by the slow sell of the 2nd shows in Auckland and Sydney? I really do not think those 2nd shows are that catastrophic though and will most likely be near full by showtime. Melbourne has a big population, so I wonder why they just did not fancy it? If that is indeed what has happened here.
  6. Perhaps between the slow sales of Auckland #2 and Sydney #2, as well as the reported poor sales of Metallica's 2nd show at the same stadium just a couple weeks before U2, LiveNation / U2's management got spooked?

But this show was pretty much sold out on day 1, same as Auckland and Sydney. A 2nd show should've been added instantly, and put onsale while the hype machine was going strong. By the time they figured out their "logistical issue", it seems like the info they gathered told them that it wouldn't be worth it to add a 2nd show. That's what it basically boils down to... they didn't feel they would be able to make enough money off of a potential 2nd show to make it worth it.
  7. I'm curious how Sydney 2 is selling. Impossible to tell with Ticketek. I am just about positive they were down to single seats for CAT 3 ($190), but you can now get pairs, so maybe they released more (doesn't look like they've reduced the price of some CAT 2 seats)?

Yeah, have they been spooked? Melbourne has a population similar in size to Sydney. They normally sell nearly as well. Marvel stadium is a bit bigger than the SCG. But I really, really expected a second show here! As did most people.
  8. Even with taking the very high ticket prices into account, if this tour had been announced in about February, they would have got in before Metallica and Queen and sold a LOT more tickets. But as usual with U2 things get delayed and take ages to happen and other bands get the jump on them.
The other thing is, since the announcement there has been very little promotion. Some local fans I know weren't even aware of the tour until I told them.
  9. I know the radio has played more u2 songs since the announcement and mention the tour but barely enough tv ads or street signage.

I also agree with Ethan that they announced this tour way too late compare to other bands, maybe arrogant thinking it didn’t matter Metallica, queen and others went on sale before?

I know my mate is skipping seeing u2 because he’s going to Metallica and can’t afford to see u2 as well

He just has to hope that tickets sell poorly. So he can pick up a seat in a good location for the bargain price of $60

Yeah, the late announcement is a bit weird. Especially as U2, Metallica & Queen are all Live Nation acts. You think they'd try to have everything organised & do the announcements in chronological order, that would seem fairest. That would meant Queen was last, as they're not here until next February. Maybe they wanted Queen's announcement to be on the back of the film, in order to sell more tickets. As their most popular member won't be joining them, & has been dead for nearly 30 years

You're right Dave, I checked a couple of days ago and they were only showing single seats.
