If they're going to do that... OMG
His voice can't do that transition anymore.
  2. He can do it in a different way, not excatly the same way as in Slane Castle.
He was also able to sing RHMT, in a different key.
  3. I suspect they’ll keep the start of the show the same anyway, or even if they make changes at the start it will be pre JT songs only at least. Could see All I want is you in the encore though.
  4. I can really only see Ultraviolet getting the chop. Maybe for Love is Bigger. They surely won’t do a new opening, JT is JT plus the phone it in encore to close.

Yes, the very beginning of the tour when the setlist was developing. You know U2 get into a pattern with setlists and typically follow it. Its about vibe and flow with setlists it always has been. Beyond those handful of shows, that was not done and they were ALL the first week or two of the tour. It has nothing to do with either lack of confidence (ASOH was played again on the tour, but w/out Bad) or laziness. They still played ASOH at later shows. So they should have played MLK also in Dublin under your criteria, it was done at other shows (at the beginning of the tour), therefore Dublin, it must be played or U2 are just lazy or unsure of themselves. C'mon. The pattern at the time was two nights, ASOH was played one of them. Dublin got one night. It was not done. It really is that simple.
Yeah, I get it, Homecoming, its Dublin it fits. It is almost cliche' that they play it. Maybe that is why they didn't? Since 2001, U2 have played Homecoming ZERO times when playing Dublin (and 2001 was a debacle). Its simply not like One Tree Hill with New Zealand.

ASOH in 2001 was a very different issue as they had not resurrected it and played it several times prior to that performance. It was improptu and, yes, a debacle. But it was quite nice in 2017, and having the song resurrected I know I'm not the only one who was just hoping to hear it in Dublin. It seemed so obvious. And it was a big, big disappointment - not only for me, I know at least a dozen of other fans that were pissed about it as well.
  6. Wasnt "pissed". But I did travel from Canada to Dublin, and was hoping to see it there
  7. *Goes to see a show dedicated to playing the Joshua Tree in full*

*Gets mad when they don't play a song from a different album that was never part of the established setlist anyway*

Yep, sounds like a U2 fan.

The funniest part about this is every time I see this song brought up, in particular the 2017 performances - 50% of the people are asking "why'd they play it at all, it sucked", blabbing about how Edge is lazy or how the guys aren't as good as they were 30 years ago (lol) and the other 50% are getting mad that U2 didn't play it at a show they went to.

It's no wonder U2 sticks to an established setlist

And to be fair, like Paul pointed out, the song is "A Sort of Homecoming", not "A Homecoming" - specifically about U2 feeling like they were at home when they played shows in OTHER parts of the world lol. I get why the shoe would fit, but at the same time, I feel like Out of Control or something pre-Boy would be more appropriate for "a song they have to play in Dublin". 11 O'Clock Tick Tock or Boy/Girl or something.

Can you imagine Boy/Girl in Croke? They do have a HEAVY set of early stuff that could rotate through a fixed segment in their shows, and in fact they've done this on Vertigo and the SOI/SOE shows. How else did most of us get to hear Gloria, Electric Co, or Out Of Control? I am really surprised though that 11 O'Clock didn't find a permanent spot in that rotation. I would have thought though that Twilight and Stories For Boys could easily have been brought in to the fold.
  9. Every band has critics, though, with die-hards being some of the harshest. U2 has always, always generally been about sticking to established setlists. Yeah, some tracklist order rearranging and songs added here and there, but you never go to a U2 show and think they might play an entire random album off the cuff...I was elated that they played ASOH at all..but it would be nice if they dusted off some early tunes. Boy/Girl would be a stretch, but maybe Twilight, ATAP, even ITAB would be awesome

I don't ever see Boy/Girl, and I think Another Time, Another Place barely made it past the Boy Tour itself. Twilight probably has the strongest case as the next Boy song to be resurrected; I don't think they'd do A Day Without Me without fitting it in with the I Threw A Brick like they used to, and I don't think they'd feel that I Threw A Brick would be worth the effort, hence making A Day Without Me a no-go. I think at one point I voiced my opinion that the Brick / Day combo would have been amazing after The Miracle on the SOI tour. Just get right into it, Red Rock style! Also, for those playing at home and who raked me over the coals on a certain other post, I minimized my abbreviations on this post
  11. Love A Day Without Me, would be a dream if they played that again.

Wish we had of gotten our innocence & experience nights back in 2015. That would have been the best chance of hearing the old gems.
