1. What some people don't realise, and in no way is this a moan or a complaint, BUT, prior to the internet and torrents and massive advances in technology, back in the 80's and early 90's you would be lucky to get maybe 1 or 2 "bootlegs" per tour area. Snail mail dubbed tapes were the only way to get trades done. I have got myself a small rig and have taped a few U2 shows since 2015 with some decent results and I have been happy to share these.

However the dedication shown by some of the tapers and sharers across the U2 and general taping community should never ever be taken for granted. The fact that we can almost hear every show of every tour since the late 90's is down to a small percentage of people taping multiple shows across multiple continents. They/we do it for the love of live music and not and never for monetary gain.

I know what its like to stand there appearing to not enjoy 2.5 hours of U2 or 3.5 hours of The Cure, hoping to get a great capture, not just for me but to share with everyone. A good few times I have had people say to me during and after a show "you obviously didn't enjoy that, did you" or "waste of time you being here?" just because I wasn't whopping and a hollering and jumping up and down singing and clapping out of tune, drinking too many beers and missing a few tracks going to the toilet...…. I still do that at some shows and I love it, but just because I don't jump up and down doesn't mean im not enjoying it.

So people respect the taper and sharer, have your opinions but make them politely.

Roll on and Rock on for the next tour.

    Cheers

Good point! Just need a few more gems in my playlist to complement the beauty of Dublin 4, like Streets, Ultraviolet and a few more JT2019 classics. (Like Hoserama Saitama release provides) And sprinkle a few Berlin songs in the mix! It's a good time to be a U2 fan!

I agree chats, tapers should be treated with gratitude. However, the artists themselves should always be on top of the pyramid.
