1. everytime I think about Songs of Ascent I end up listening to No Line On The Horizon songs

Specially Moment of Surrender, Winter, and Unknown Caller
  2. I think Boots worked for me. I was 14 when the album came out. And it was the really 1st U2 album I've listened to

It would have been so much better. I love the aesthetic of the NLOTH album, the band photos, etc. It's a shame they didn't commit fully to the idea of a different sounding U2 album, rather than being nervous about having no rockers like Vertigo.

GOYB was decent live and far better than SOE's singles, like The Best Thing and GOOYOW.

    Agreed with everything here!
  4. Boots is to U2 what Shiny Happy People was to R.E.M. it's a jangly pop song with ridiculous lyrics that appeals to some but not one of their more memorable efforts.
  5. We have very different definitions of "jangly pop song"

Crazy Tonight is a jangly pop song. Boots is a beautiful disaster.
  6. I think sonically it’s interesting, I like the chorus and bridge a lot. The verses hold it back but it’s not nearly as bad as it’s reputation
  7. I personally have never had an issue with the lyrics. They're fine to me.
  8. Magnificent should have been the first single it's probably the best song on the album ,at the time it grabbed most people as the standout song ,musically Boots isn't the worst it's the lyrics and chorus that suck it left a lot of people with a bad taste.
  9. Hahaha I had never realized. LOOOOOOOOL

Amen to everything except GOOYOW which is like a thousand times better than Get On Your Shit and The Worst Thing About Me

    So plenty of polish?
