1. We also used to have much smaller 480p TVs when DVDs were at their peak. A DVD blown up on a 50+ inch screen looks like crap. It is fine for watching on a smaller screen but with large screen 1080p or 4K TVs being so cheap now, they are more homes than 480p screens.

All the old releases look like absolute shite on my OLED and are barely watchable. This is not hyperbole. The video is so blurry and has so many artifacts that it is difficult to enjoy. Hell they even screwed up the Chicago DVD by not released it in anamorphic format. By far the worst quality picture because you have to blow it up to watch it.

Anyway in 2020 releasing ANY video in anything less than 1080p is inexcusable.
  2. Ok I'm outta here.

a shitty DVD (WE HAVE 2020, NOT 1999!!!) is NOT worth 40$ - plus all the hassles we usually have with these gifts. Keep your trash to yourself. I keep my money and spend it on concert tickets for others.

And the simple fact, that these will arrive in 2021 from a 2018 concert, and it is still NOT available on BluRay in a f*cking normal store - please, just....let it be. You messed it up completely.

I understand you perfectly Sparko . And I agree.

It's a little disappointing for me, yes. 10 years ago they launched the 360 show in FullHD, and why did they go back now? I find this strange. And I don't see it as a gift, because we pay 50 dollars, and this year we will not have any tours. at least that's what I think. Other point. U2 has millions of fans around the world, and not even 1% are subscribers. Won't they have the show?

Well if they released it as blu Ray there would be people who wouldn’t have a device to play it on who never converted to blu Ray, dvd sales are significantly higher than blu Ray, they’re catering to the majority. They could have catered to both by giving us an option I’ll concede that but still it doesn’t make it a bad gift. I agree it isn’t really a gift but we can only compare it to previous years as the subscription fee hasn’t changed and this to me seems a good item compared to what we’ve had before, certainly better than lithographs and a book. And your last point about non subscribers isn’t valid as the whole point about the subscriber set is it’s something exclusive. You also want it to be something that appeals to fans as well. Based on your theory the fanclub should offer either no gift or a rubbish gift as what would non subscribers do?
  5. I'm happy, just ship it soon. Yes formatting is an issue but also expect a commercial release at some point.
  6. The Paris Box contained both BD and DVD and still you got a code to download a fuil HD mp4. So where's the problem offering a full HD download along with a BD??!? Like I said, we have 2020 - technology isn't rocket science anymore!

OR LET THE PEOPLE CHOOSE DVD/BD! Simple as that - but hey, that would mean effort and people and work involved - got it.

I do have to agree with that they could have gave the option of blu Ray or dvd and in fact could have offered the download with whatever you chose. That would have went down better and seems a reasonable solution.

I just think that all fans should have access to their favorite band's show and do not only subscribers. Gifts should be something exclusive and not the main thing. The show is what all fans want to buy. I don't just think about subscribers, as U2 has millions of fans who will not have access to this concert. Except by download, but it is not the same to have the original material. To me, fifth dollars in my country is very expensive and with this I can buy 5 originals blurays (movies or concerts). Unfortunately many fans in Brazil and in countries that do not have a strong economy will have to go download illegally. The U2 have to think about this.
  9. Is it going to release on Blu Ray or will this only be available as the subscriber gift?
  10. I keep stumbling upon this one:

A 75 minute TV edit, curated by the band, kicked off 2020 for viewers around the world and now U2.com subscribers can take home the entire show - twenty three songs over 140 minutes.
  11. Possibly at a later date.
  12. Why not give us the U2-3D concert instead. That would be an awesome subscriber gift.
