Looking on my shelf I see there were three editions of this book published.

It would be so good to see everything from the year 2001 up to present day documented this way along with updates and revision to the original text.

The resources are all available to collate thanks to internet web sites that have documented the audio recordings very efficiently since 2001 (and before).

Let's leave the last word to Willie Williams...

“Some time after the Zoo TV tour, the book U2 Live: A Concert Documentary dropped into my lap and left me speechless. Being something of an archivist myself I was deeply impressed by such a comprehensive history of U2’s live career — especially as this was long before the internet made this kind of data collection much more feasible.
The book instantly became U2’s final authority on all things regarding touring history. On tour, I carry a copy in my work box and there’s always one on the band’s aeroplane, largely for solving arguments over important issues like exactly when we first played in Detroit, or the name of that club in Burton-on-Trent where Bono first went body surfing. It would also make us laugh too, like a family photo album, with its occasional painfully frank reports about certain events or performances.”

The U2 Bible that no U2 live fan and collector should be without (though I've still to grab that 3rd edition, must sort out). That's amazing the band keep one on the plane on tour and Willie has one on tour too.
  3. So many books on U2 are filled with information that has been documented a million times but "U2 live"was so insightful into their touring history and the challenges they faced particularly on the Popmart and to a lesser extent the Zoo TV tours.
  4. Regarding the ZooTV shirt, was there a show on 11th august 1992 or am I missing something?
All I can find are shows on the 12th and 13th.

The original date was 11th August but ended up being put forward one day to allow more time to set up the stage.
  6. First Edition - Omnibus Press (1994)
This original edition stops at 19th January 1994

Second Edition - Omnibus Press (1997)
Picks up in Winter/Spring 1995 up to 6th May 1997
With amendments to the First Edition throughout though not listed as errata or updated information.

Third Edition - Omnibus Press (2003)
Picks up from 9th May 1997 up to 23rd March 2003
With an appendix for errata and updated information.
  7. So basically 17 years out of date.
  8. An update to the present time of writing would be welcomed.

I was involved in the third edition, writing up some of the dates on the Elevation tour, as well as assisting with some of the fixes which are included at the end of the book. The decision was made to keep Pimm's original book intact and that lead to the addition of the appendix for updated information rather than altering any of the content Pimm had put in place.

Pimm did an incredible amount of research which often involved going back to original sources, and searching out reviews, information from fans, recordings, and press sources from around the world. Since that time, more information has come to light, including a tour of Ireland in early 1980 that had not been mentioned in any of the three editions of the book.
  10. One would have to get approval from.various U2 live websites before updating and expanded a new edition.
  11. A full qualitative and quantitive analysis is overdue.
