    Oh absolutely, it's embarrassing.
  2. So I kinda was the one to start this because of my rant on the Elevation Boston DVD during the performance of The Fly, might as well do my part

Everything's fine until the solo. When Edge ends the "intro" of the solo and starts the descent on the neck, everything fucks up. From 1:35:12 to 1:35:37, not a single shot of Edge is synced to what he's actually playing. Extremly noticeable when you're a guitar player who loves to play The Fly When Bono starts singing again it's fine (because then they can't cheat I guess...)

The ending part is the worst : at 1:37:15, in the audio Bono reaches the screen wall at the precise last beat of the song. In the video though... Larry is still playing the song normally. Then when in the audio, Larry does the final wrap snare drum thing, he's actually still just playing the cymbals in the video. Was it worth it to fake the edit that much just to sync up Bono's timing mistake ?

Btw at 1:35:06, Bono starts walking down the left half of the heart, then at 1:35:12 he's walking down the right half of the heart.

Anyway, rant over such as shame for an amazing performance of this song, that we have no other official release of.

  3. This is bloody great. There will be posts here for years as people rewatch these DVD’s with the pause button and a notepad at the ready.

  4. Which is particularly bad since that was one single night and thy didn't have any more gigs at the same venue to get footage from (like Sydney), but still they fucked up
  5. All this is why I'm bloody happy about the E+I recorded show. That movie was brilliant, much different editing than what we got before. And Acrobat is beautifully shot

None of Slane comes from night 1 either does it?
  7. Yeah there is some footage from Night 1. It seems a bit grainier. You notice it in Streets where Bono's teleporting is happening. And I also think in Kite when he sings "I'm a maaaaan" the footage is from night 1

Ahh okay - I did wonder how there was so much in the way of continuity errors but it's certainly easier if you have 2 nights to choose from, I just always assumed none of Slane 1 was properly filmed cos if the time gap between the shows
  9. You're kidding right? Slane is plagued of raccord and match-cut errors with plenty of footage from night1 squeezed into the final cut. Just a couple of examples:

  10. Also, not sure if it goes under 'continuity errors', but there's some pretty obvious polishing up in PopMart from Mexico if you watch the proshot that was broadcast live and compare it to the final DVD, such as taking out Bono saying something random during the intro to Pride (not 'we're here to make love' but something else just mumbled), the harmonics during Sunday Bloody Sunday and Edge makes a mistake coming out of the first solo in Mysterious Ways, into the bridge - he starts on the wrong fret and quickly moves to the right fret, there's some clever volume adjustment to kinda just fade it in when he's back on the right fret but if you're looking for it, you can still see him notice the mistake and move his hand just before you hear the note actually come in - these are all still on the proshot obviously

This video comes from the proshot, you can here the mistake at 3:16

This is from the actual DVD, the visual quality is much worse but you can hear how the mistake has been edited at 3:18 - obviously you'd be able to see it properly on the DVD

I guess some things you don't notice until they're pointed out to you and then they're really obvious ahahaha, like I said, I always assumed they never bothered filming night 1 cos of the gap between the shows...

From the same show, same thing : Larry looses a stick during the start of New Year's Day I think it was, pretty noticeable in the original recording. Fixed up for the DVD. But these are pretty "standard" corrections I'd say, it's normal for people paying 20$ for a DVD to not get something with distracting mistakes
