1. Yeah! Specially with tickets at an average of $180, haha.

@deanallison that's absolutely spot on, it's exactly their* strategy and it's a disgrace. Their priority as artists should be reaching as many people as possible.

    *well, theirs and everybody else's

Lowlands (outdoor music festival will take place late August for example, probably with some measures, Paaspop a little later. Don't know if Ziggo Dome will have reduced capacity by that time, but concerts are newly announced for late summer/fall..

Edit: there's this team called fieldlabs that are doing test events in theaters/halls and outdoors this spring to prepare for the real events

That's interesting and quite surprising. Here concerts get announced but almost no tickets get sold because everyone assumes concerts just are not going to take place It's disgraceful.

Live shows are there money maker now, I think when it comes to reaching people they would point to the albums and the songs that are all available to listen to, free of charge on YouTube. I’m not saying that’s the right mindset but u2 are/were in a contract with livenation so that they can put on their big shows essentially risk free, they want to be able to have a stage set up like 360 or I&E/E&I and not worry about making money or not because livenation deal with it. Livenation are a business and a business’s priority will always be to make the most money possible, they essentially invest a lot of money in the band and expect a good return on that investment. I don’t think the band members in u2 are that bothered about making an extra $1million a show I just think they accept that if they want to be able to focus on the music and putting on the best shows they can that livenation will be bothered about making an extra $1million. I honestly can’t say if I was a 60 year old musician I’d want to get involved in the business side of things, they pay people to make these decisions for them, it’s one less thing to worry about.
  6. No.

With vaccine and eventually herd immunity doing its job, I dont see why new U2 tour(s) could not happen. Maybe not full on 60k stadiums, but arenas with vaccine/testing, distance =lesser capacity, and masks. It can be done.

In fact, the more time passes without new material, the better the odds for AB30 in 2022, which IMO is the most likely U2 tour in the near future.
  7. as deanallison says, concerts are THE money-maker especially with U2 being an 'old' act

people want to go and hear the all the hits - sorry to all the serious fans who want to hear the rarities - as they do with other 'legend' acts
  8. I only want to hear Grace and Get On Your Boots.

Guess we have a well organised concert/festival industry, it's their initiative but supported by the government. https://fieldlabevenementen.nl/
  10. Football has to be back with all fans before any concert can happen. In my opinion.
  11. They need to figure out how to make these things happen. We can’t just keep cancelling events indefinitely. At what point will they stop saying “well maybe next year...”. Vaccinate the elderly and vulnerable, as many others as you can, take pressure off the hospitals, and open up 100%.

And don’t give me that shit about new variants and mutations. Purely fear mongering bullshit from a media struggling to remain relevant.
  12. Ignorant. Look up the nature of a pathogen. The remarkable capacity of some viruses to adapt to new hosts and environments is highly dependent on their ability to generate 'de novo' diversity in a short period of time. Rates of spontaneous mutation vary amply among viruses. RNA viruses mutate faster than DNA viruses.

I suggest you read more! Go on.
Here, try this for a start. You will learn a lot that will make you think about the 'bullshit' of the variants...

Highly recommended to anyone who wishes to learn just how control measures and how the purpose of epidemiology are defined in pandemic states.
