1. Rattle And Hum 35th Anniversary Edition, Blu-Ray and available on streaming services:
    - Film Remastered on 4K UHD
    - All outtakes with remastered audio and video
    - Live from Dublin 1989, all 4 concerts remastered and put on CD in this imaginary boxset
    - Live in Australia 1989 Documentary
    - Live in Dublin 12/31/1989, video and audio remastered
  2. Bonus features are what could really make a R&H rerelease worthwhile. One tree hill, mothers of the disappeared and trip are top of the list, maybe a version of in gods country which doesn’t cut the song right down. TUF and 40 as well and it’s job done.
  3. all the outtakes would include all of these
  4. Yeah you’re idea is great I’d definitely buy that my idea was more of a realistic version as I couldn’t see them doing anything as big as what you suggested. I reckon if anything because of the discussion in previous pages about the issues with paramount the most we would get is a 1 disc 4k release and they stick the bonus stuff on that.
  5. Since this topic got bumped up today, I wanted to add something that would lend clarity on what to expect. I’m a huge physical media guy for film, so I’ll break down very simply the 3 possible different ways to expect the film to be released. This is usually what happens with Paramount catalog titles. You’re gonna want to pay attention to the 3rd one.

1.the rerelease of the old Blu-ray with whatever bonus features that were included on the original pressing.
2.a 4K scan of the film under their Paramount Presents line which is only released on Blu-ray. Bonus features are typically in Standard Def because they’re taken from the old DVD release.
3.a 4K scan of the film released on 4K which includes a Blu-ray & digital copy. Ok. This is where it gets “cute”. The Blu-ray 99% of the time is the old scan of the film which drives all collectors nuts, so it’s pretty much like #1. And on top of that the digital copy usually has the new 4K scan which adds to the ire of physical media collectors. Very rarely will the Blu-ray included with the 4K disc have the new scan.
  6. I hope they release the New Year’s Eve concert from 1989 on iTunes for the 35 anniversary of rattle & hum
  7. That would be another rerelease if they did that. I’d buy it on cd right enough.

Paramount owns the film and the name. And there’s a contract in place that details what U2 can and can’t do with the album in relation to that. And word is that Paramount hasn’t been that agreeable to working with the band. They looked at doing a 30th anniversary edition in 2018. But at the end couldn’t get Paramount on board. Why not buy it back? Seems like Paramount has a cheap film they own they can toss out every time a new format comes along, so why sell it back? (I’m surprised we haven’t seen a 4K of it to be honest, but like the album they are limited on what they can release so I doubt we’ll see a deluxe version of the film for the same reasons we won’t see a deluxe version of the album.)

I'm not sure ,U2 are fairly smart when it comes to their music they wouldn't have given complete ownership and control of R&H to Paramount particularly the music which is licensed to Island and Universal, I think we'll see some sort of boxset of R&H in the not too distant future maybe they wanted to hold off on it as there was a fairly comprehensive boxset of JT in 2017 and various other subsequent releases such as SOE and ALTYCLB boxset .

They tried to do Rattle and Hum in 2018. Songs of Experience was released in 2017.
  10. The E&I tour was 2018 so maybe they didn't want it out during that time frame but what I've heard is that they still plan to commentate R&H with some sort of boxset.

I’m sure they do. They wanted to do it for the fall of 2018 which would have happened as the tour was winding down. I’m sure if they get a chance they’ll look at it again. A huge amount of the work is done on the project.
  12. Next year probably will represent a good opening then if they are determined to release something for it as I can’t see the new album being ready or if it is ready it will be very late on in the year I think. Then again this year is a good one for Pop 25 and that’s not happening.
