  3. Just not my thing mate, wasn't awful just preferred other parts of the show,I like the idea of Larry coming down and walking the ramps that was cool

I respect your opinion Regrettably, U2 did not play Discothèque or Mofo on this tour
  5. Same... I liked it a lot and it was really fun!

It did damage only in their head and because of poor american sales of the tour. I was 20 too and my mates thought they were cool as fu*k.
And the tour in Europe was pretty succes and radio and music TVs played a lot of songs from Pop. They were very trendy at that time at least here.

I can tell you when I used to go into used cd stores, I would often look at the back of discs that were underrated or just did not sell. I would take a glance at used Pop cds, and they would look like they just came out of the factory. NOBODY listened to what is viewed as a unsuccessful album. I'm smart enough to know that Pop is not an album for everyone...but a lot of people just hear music, and don't take the time to listen. I think the tour was awesome. The album was full of songs that made you think. Please, Gone, Last Night On Earth, Staring At The Sun were full of depth and atmospheric pleasures if you were willing to go along for the ride. It did not have easy made hits like WOWY, One, or Desire. I was almost 28 at the time, and noticed the old school U2 fans my age and older were not willing to give it a chance, and the younger pop audience really wouldn't either. They probably should have tacked on Hold Me, Thrill Me, Pizza Me...and Miss Sarajevo but that's just my opinion. As is, Pop remains my 3rd favorite U2 album.
  8. Yep. The music was too “out there” to retain many of their longtime fans but the guys were “too old” to seem hip to the next generation. Sorta caught between Gen X and Gen Y.
  9. I know I've been critical of Bono's voice for this tour, but I've been listening to Miami 11/14/97 a lot lately. To my ears it's a great recording, and I learned a lot of guitar and bass from U2 soundboards. That's probably why to this day, I still prefer a good soundboard recording to a recording that includes audience. The band sounds amazing.

Also been listening to the Seattle show that was from Edge's audio feed for old time's sake- flew there for the show when I worked at American Airlines and could fly anywhere for dirt cheap. Anyway, giving some love to Popmart. I honestly like the Miami gig over Mexico City based on audio alone. Plus the performance of Miami, come on!! Good stuff. But Mexico City will always have it's place- one of my favorite versions of One indeed.

do you remember recalling Bono was bald for that Seattle show?
  11. By the 3rd leg of the tour they were absolutely on fire! Mexico is great, but pretty much any show from that time is great. I also really like the Jacksonville show. Despite a very low turnout, they gave it their all and put on one hell of a show for those that came.

Such a start contrast to the first couple shows, where they sounded like a bad cover band.

    This I think nails it.
What turned me off it was the dance elements,I just wanted U2 to play rock, experiment by all means but rock.
