Bono has confirmed it is coming by name in October, and again when his book was published this month. The November 18 date for the album was given to me in Late February / early March. When I was told in September it was likely to be later I passed that along. I too was hoping for an earlier digital release and was told it was being looked at.

I’ve been publishing advance info for over 20 years now, first at U2Wanderer/U2Tours, and these days at U2Songs. It’s not that hard to look back on our record. There was a time when U2Wanderer announced all the single track lists for the ATYCLB singles. I brought up The Complete U2 before Apple did. We also revealed the Joshua Tree 30 dates and SoE dates before the announcement. There was the Australia tour in 2019 which I was told was “utterly ridiculous and will never happen”, we announced the release date for SOE four months before it was announced, and The Europa EP four months before there was an announcement. We published that Bono and The Edge would be doing promo on Howard Stern, and that the 2018 rehearsals would be in Quebec long before any of that was announced. Are we perfect? No we’ve gotten it wrong at times. Other times U2 have changed plans and things haven’t happened.

I get that it’s hard to put faith in it sometimes. I’m not revealing my sources. I can’t. But I know who they are, and how they are connected back to the band, and I also have to live with whatever I put down, so I try very hard to make sure I have multiple sources for anything I publish and that we don’t publish something that is fake. I don’t get anything back for publishing these. We make no money off the site. There’s no advertising. More traffic just means I pay more each month out of my own pocket.

The Songs of Surrender album is happening. It’s not going to be this year. But we don’t have much longer to wait for it. It will be out before the book I wrote about U2 will be published next year.
    thanks for everything, always trustworthy

  2. You’re right, and I echo what some others have said recently about appreciating your careful sharing of advance info based on your sources. And I do apologize if I or others have appeared impatient or dismissive of news regarding SOS. I totally get that Bono should have his tour take primary focus right now before the album comes out. Just was hoping originally they could coincide as the snippets from the audio book have me eager for more.
  3. U2songs/ Wanderer have been extremely accurate with their information with regards the bands activities it can't be easy getting everything 100% right as the band have a tendency to change deadlines and scrap entire projects and albums at the last minute, the frustrations are more with the band than the messenger 5 years since the last album (yes there was a pandemic and lockdowns etc) but I don't like the idea of U2 doing a covers album of their own songs they should be left as they are it's like trying to rewrite history you can't they should leave them as they are and move on to the album of new songs.
  4. Just to be perfectly clear here from my side, I have not at all questioned U2Wanderer1 at all with my crit.

I appreciate very much the dudes intel on all matters U2 ... my crit is/was definitely aimed at the band.

I'm not shooting the messenger here.

I did that a while ago regarding U2 touring Aus with TJT. I was dubious with rumours of a tour here in OZ as it wasn't a 'U2 type of thing' at that time to tour with no new record behind them and U2Wanderer was spot on with his info.

So I very much appreciate his contribution to this site and apologise to him if my words here where misdirected.

Who has made a 'rude' comment!?

  8. I love every post Wanderer does. They are awesome and have given us so much to talk about over the years. Thank you!
  9. Absolutely. Many thabks to U2Wanderer1.
I also not only like what he or she writes, but also how it is written.
  10. Thanks to U2W1 and for the u2songs.com team for all of the awesome scholarship.
  11. Well certainly not me ! I think he is an amazing and rare 'in' on a band/brand that are renowned for keeping things close to their chest.
  12. I’m amazed that SOS is pressed, sitting in a warehouse and hasn’t leaked. My how times have changed. 🤣
