1. Do you think it will be early january ?

Let’s face it, I’m not really convinced about the « we can’t have two products facing each other ». A majority of persons will listen to the record on streaming devices while those who did buy such a book will no doubt also buy a physical version of the record. U2 is so relevant and powerful in the music industry that I don’t see them not doing whatever they desire.

Right cause it isn’t Christmas where people get ridiculous amounts of new things they don’t need… or can buy themselves. A book and an accompanying album couldn’t be further from competing with each other.
  3. This band and their management have been out of touch for a long time.

  4. No way anything they do is making the charts. Should they make a deal with the devil, and get something on the level of Achtung, even the devil would not be able to get them a chart hit. The charts are not for those over 40, and they will all be 60 something whenever anything new comes out.
  5. Have they, really ? Except for the iPhone incident which was Bono’s fault they have been pretty good in the last five years. No big problem to handle, amazing reaction to reschedule the Paris shows after the terrorist attacks, three amazing tours, two great records, one book, nice vynil reissues for the RSD and what not. The only problem I see is how they manage the fan club gifts which is clearly no big deal.
  6. Apple's fault. U2 is not the expert on iphone settings.

Simple marketing. The book tour is short. The book mentions a completed album. The shopping/Christmas season is upon us. No reason not to have both out. At the very least a single should have been out by now.

    See u2 by u2 and u2 18 both out in late 2006.

U2 have always been essentially an Album band yes they've had a lot of hit singles in their 40 year career (it's mainly only teens that buy singles) but all of their albums have been relatively successful which mostly go top 10 or number 1 worldwide 🌐 and live gigs is where the money is made and they are one of the biggest draws on the touring circuit.
  9. The only thing that would put U2 on the list is a feat
  10. I see all this book marketing as something successful or respectable, maybe even people who don't like Bono would give him a chance through it
  11. The German publisher could have done more promo, I think.

If people read the book, they will respect Bono even more, I think - I do, for sure.
There might even be some folks who did not like him or were annoyed by him who might change their minds, altough that is not what this is all about.
But the book, the interviews and the stage production/ performance sure gain him some respect, well deserved.

I perfectly understand that the album got pushed back till 2023.
  12. As much as I’d love for this to be out already, I’m sure it will all make sense when it’s finally released in 2023.

    I trust the U2 team…they know what they’re doing.
