1. We’ll get a few sound bites from Bono that’ll be him regurgitating the same lines he has been all year in interviews. Edge and Adam will sit there smiling and clapping. Larry will sit there looking grumpy as ever, if he even shows up. Nothing to see here, really. This isn’t going to be the event we think it is, or that it should be.

  2. I wonder this, too. Really hoping that with full context it would be obvious that it's about the business side of things and not anything personal between Bono/Edge and Adam/Larry. They've been through that before and weathered the storm regardless, I suppose.

Also agree, though, with those that mentioned that it'd be odd for Larry to seriously consider not going on tour next year if all these rumors about 2023 new album/tour have any legitimacy to them whatsoever...is he pissed because LiveNation / Guy Oseary is pressuring the band to potentially keep going with just the three of them? After reading "Surrender" and seeing again Bono's loyalty to all three of his bandmates, I would hope that would be a line in the sand that none of them would cross.
  3. Maybe Larry Mullen Jr Jr (his kids) could take over a la Bonham.
  4. I remember that Larry had the same problem while recording PoP!
  5. Not sure exactly who he’s taking a swipe at, but you can’t rule out it being LiveNation. It’s not the Paul McG days anymore and their 2014-2020 has been relentless. Perhaps the Las Vegas thing is the last straw for him and he’s basically ruling himself out of any further commitments.
  6. U2 is benevolent despotism in action. Bono is the despot. They’ve been described as this before. Nothing really new in this piece for seasoned U2 watchers.
  7. What’s the point of a “celebration” tour/shows without the original lineup? It won’t be the same for me. I think the general consensus in the U2 community is if one of the calls it day, the band would stop. So to get conflicting things of Vegas and this is hard to comprehend.

Also, it absolutely wouldn’t be the same. There’s a full practice show from 2015 with a different drummer and the songs just don’t sound/feel the same.
  8. I think he will be there for Vegas, new album and new tour in 2024/25. After that, we’re all getting old, fans included. If their health really can’t keep up, it could be the last tour before Songs of Ascent.
  9. This whole thing reminded me of this interview. Larry & Adam talking about having fun & the band's future. @ 7.58

It's just weird that he would make the comment / projection that he likely won't be ready for Vegas in September of next year ten plus months ahead of time. I have back surgery like a few others here and their are so many variables that determine physical therapy and recovery. If he had a surgery the now he will certainly have a better chance than waiting until next year. Like I said, weird.

It must be almost impossible to stay in a band for 40 odd years without one guy wanting out, so many bands are lucky to last 10 years without losing a member or splitting up .Hard to know what's going on behind closed doors 🚪 I do think they could be in a bit of turmoil as to when and where they go to next ,Bono doing his solo tour immediately threw up alarm bells in that there is no U2 activity on the immediate horizon I don't think it's something he would do if they were recording or had an album or tour in the works .
