U2:UV Achtung Baby at the Sphere
Legs (1): 2023-2024
Shows: 40
Tickets:

  1. U2 definitely have one of the top 5 singers ever and one of the top 30 influential guitarist ever.
  2. any rumors for this week? saw on twitter the outside panels are complete and being tested
  3. Singers, disagree.. guitarists, absolutely agree.
  4. i agree with you

bono is soooo underrated mainly because people think he's a twat

but even forgetting about the perfect takes in the studio - live in concert he's in another league

there have been many great frontmen - but bono is easily in the top 5

    easily

just not doing his legacy any good all this latest stuff
  5. Here’s an interesting— albeit not very well-written — article about The Sphere. More from the financial point-of-view regarding what MSG Entertainment have spent on this project. However, there are some details about U2 in it.

Apparently, the band were paid $10 million to open the arena, and that’s in addition to collecting 90% of the ticket sales. Also, the article mentions September 29 as the first date, with “the reat spread over a few months.”
  6. Think that's pretty common knowledge by now.

Being a good frontman and being a good singer are 2 different things. Bono is easily top 5 in being a good frontman, but not even close to top 20 of being a good singer.

I do consider Bono as a good singer (mostly, but in recent years.....) Freddie, George Michael, David Bowie, Elvis, Thom Yorke, Thom Smith, Robert Plant, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Prince, Joe Jackson, Otis, Michael Hutchence etc etc are/were all better singers then Bono ever was (and this list can go further).

So yes, not best drummer + not best bassist + good guitarist + good singer = best band ever
  8. I'd say Bono is in the top 5 - 10 of greatest rock singers & top 5 of greatest frontmen of all time. The outstanding studio vocal takes as well as live deliveries over the years, the consistency throughout his career (there might have been some low vocal periods, but he's always come back with a great voice), his stage presence and alter egos as well as his recognizable voice imo make him one of the all time greats.
  9. worried about how they will present the songs , classic style or SOS style.
i would not be surprised if its a show with SOS style song presentations

Get off the stage will you Lennon/McCartney hadn't got the range he does same with Hutchence now some people might prefer their vocals and music which is fine but technically Bono is a much better vocalist,I could not imagine any of them taking on Songs like Kite,All I want is you ,Ultraviolet, Red Hill mining town, Still haven't found and many others that have big soaring notes .

In Bono's case it's his performance and delivery I think. But on a purely technical level, Chris Cornell could have sung Kite a half octave higher with no problem. Eddie Vedder doing In God's Country 2 weeks ago sounds as good as Bono in '87.

Imo he fluctuates a lot in technique/accuracy but as a frontman, storyteller and getting emotions across to large audiences he's easily top-10
  12. 1.) Art is subjective
2.) Why is this conversation about best singer even in this particular forum?
