Comments: This is a notorious concert in U2's history. The Psychedelic Furs were originally meant to perform at the concert but did not play for reasons that are uncertain. Most of the crowd had shown up to see the Furs and became hostile when they learnt they will only see U2. U2 tried their hardest to break down the tension but do not succeed, with brawls breaking out in the crowd. This is particularly apparent during I Will Follow, which is plagued by false starts as Bono rebukes those causing trouble and urges calm. The band did not perform an encore for obvious reasons. "I was very keen on the idea of going wide at a time like that, just seeing how big this thing could get. I had always admired Colonel Parker and Brian Epstein for realising that music could capture the imagination of the whole world."
