Performance

Somehow, Bono sounds even rougher than he did two days ago in Iowa City and sounds all kinds of weak during 'Streets', barking, straining and singing off-pitch throughout the song after letting The Edge play some nice licks during the slightly extended intro. The choruses are great with the rasp sounding really good though. 'I Will Follow' sounds quite good with Bono's rough and raspy voice making him sound more powerful.

Bono then dedicates 'Trip Through Your Wires' to himself and delivers a fantastic rendition of the track. 'Haven't Found' is another genuinely great version and I take my statement back that Bono sounds awful! The audience takes over from Bono and he gives them a big speech of gratitude in the middle of the song! After a gorgeous 'MLK', Bono uses his Kermit tone for most of 'The Unforgettable Fire' and shows that his falsetto is not working tonight, which leads to a few really subpar spots for his voice in general.

'Exit' isn't great but at least isn't a catastrophe and is somewhat salvaged by the musicianship which goes on for a lot longer as Bono is busy doing something else instead of going into the snippet / finale. 'In God's Country' might be one of the weakest performances I've heard. 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' is definitely one of the worst performances I've heard as Bono chops up lines, says Hi to Kermit, cracks about a dozen times and even when he tries to go into a soft voice that just gives out completely. The Edge decides to add to that and plays a couple of bum notes towards the end.

'Help' sees Bono definitely needing some help cause his voice ain't voicing anymore. 'People Get Ready' has some great moments but still suffers from rough lead vocals. Although 'Bad' is really rough for Bono, the interactions with the audience make it truly special and a showcase for the strong connection between the band and the audience. Unfortunately, the vocal issues keep getting worse as Bono isn't even able to deliver 'October' effectively anymore. 'New Year's Day' is about as bad as it can get. 'Pride' again sees the crowd taking over for Bono when his voice can't handle it anymore. His voice literally dies in the end.

The encores are bad with Bono again letting the crowd to everything in falsetto which leads to more very wholesome moments. The mostly whispered 'Running to Stand Still' actually works well but is destroyed anyway by Bono sounding like he swallowed a bag of stones for everything that is not whispered. 'With or Withou You' features the usual problems but also has some great moments sprinkled in. '40' is big for the crowd but Bono sounds like he's ready to pass out at any moment.

Sound

Quite good quality.

Audience

Great audience that is 100% into the show, singing and clapping along and going crazy for most songs. They don't mind Bono's rough voice ONE bit and take over without any instructions or hints whenever they feel Bono needs it and he truly appreciates it. They even do the NYD belt after the second verse without being prompted to!

Overall

Although Bono should make this show be a Skipper, the atmosphere and the fantastic audience (I cannot stress enough HOW good this audience is!), this was one of the most fun I've had with a U2 show so far!
