The rumours on the upcoming tour have come via a number of sources including crew, the label, the touring company, logistics providers, venue staff and local media.

Yes, I understand your reasons. I agree that JTT was a success and an "easy way" to go for them if they will go down under. But after more than 2 years and after they moved on artistically with E&I, now they go back to it? Mmmmmmm, I think it is not typical of this band. To be honest, it is not typical of any band! I don't have any memories of a band making a tour in EU and USA and SA, then making a new album and another tour in EU and USA, then saying: "ehi, let's go back to the previous tour!". People continue to tell me about "signs" and "sources". To be honest, eveything comes from U2Songs, which is often reliable, but they are the only channel where rumors come from. U2Songs rumors too are based on U2Songs "sources", that we don't know how much reliable they are. Management? People closed to the band? Or, at the contrary, people not really in the knowledge of the band's plans? The same source that was saying that the announcement was for sure on the 12th of April? The same source that was saying that the tour was for sure not branded JTT and that now says that it is branded JTT? Sorry, but I can believe a news only if I know exactly the source where it comes from, and if I can see that the source is a reliable one. Before reading about phisics, for example, I have to check if I'm on a scientific site or on a flat earth fans site: I mean, we have to know the origin of the information. At the moment we don't know the sources. And no journalists of the music sector are talking about this forthcoming tour, at the moment. Signs? People tend to see only signs that they want to see. About me, I can see also signs that there will be no tour. Adam 2 months ago said practically that there will be no tour without new material. For me it means: there will be no tour without new material! But for a lot of people, as I read here, means: there will be no tour in EU or USA (Australia yes!) without new material (except Australia that we can go with the old! and maybe new material is a live DVD with old material!). Who should i believe to? Unidentfied "sources" or Adam? Maybe Adam, what do you say? In the end, I can be completelly wrong, but allow me to be doubtful about it until monday, at less!
+ 1 ... very well written and exactly my sceptical point of view regarding this „rumoured“ Tour. But for believers and non-believers: Next week we all will see, time is running out...

Yep. If it doesn't happen this month we'll close this thread.

If it does happen we'll make sure to quote all you non-believers again

Hi - I help run U2Songs. I'd like to address some of your questions.

Our sources for the tour rumours started with crew. They later expanded to those in logistics and planning for the tour. we have now heard from the record label, the touring company (Live Nation), we have heard from staff at local venues, we have also been hearing from the local music press and are still hearing from crew etc. We would love to share more information on our sources, but most have asked not to be named, and are under an embargo not to reveal information. And we will respect that. This is all explained in our article on the tour rumours. We invite you to take a look if you want more information.

The rumours however are NOT just coming from us either. The Sydney Herald published a story about U2 and Elton John struggling to find houses. Both The Mix in New Zealand and Triple M radio stations in Australia have recently spoke about rumours on the radio (Triple M were specific in mentioning U2.) And both Noel Gallagher and Guy Oseary have mentioned they will be in the region. And Paul McGuinness when asked about it said "oh they announced that?" or something along those lines. None of that confirms a tour of course, but it is more than just U2Songs speaking about things.

We do get a lot of bad information sent our way as well so it does pay to be skeptical. Just yesterday after we did our update we saw a list of dates pop up that has several errors included. We've confirmed they are not legitimate, and will not print them. We prefer to be right over being first to print something. There are rumours that were not shared until we are able to get a second confirmation even though that sometimes took weeks. But I would hope our record would stand for itself. It's pretty easy to look back and see what we announced in advance in the past and what we got right and what we didn't.

And finally things do change. We were told early on that the tour would not be branded The Joshua Tree Tour. But at the time we were told that it would reintroduce the Joshua Tree songs and that they would be a focus on the tour. Now four months later we're being told it is The Joshua Tree after all. Things do change. All of the time. Three days before The Joshua Tree 2017 tour was announced the official press releases from Live Nation that were being prepared included a date for Raleigh. When that tour was announced Raleigh was no where on the list and it was later replaced with another city entirely. We've presented the information we have been given to the best of our ability and at the time we believed it to be current and factual based on us knowing the sources, and having been able to confirm it with more than one source.

Yep, I've got refundable hotels booked for Singapore, Melbourne and Sydney. No idea which one I'm going to though.

does it really matter if the Joshua Tree is 30 or 32 years old, or if there was another tour in between? Probably they will mix things up a bit, with the main focus on JT. I don't see any (new) problems with that, artistically it's just as 'bad' as it was in 2017.
  7. I just hope they don't brand it as another Joshua Tree Tour.
  8. I hope it's a mix of the best bits of the innocence tour, the Joshua tree tour and the experience tour.

Joshua tree songs, the happy meal section, acrobat, dirty day, stay, every breaking wave, wild horses, the little things and nothing else from the last two albums
  9. Just as well they didn’t announce it before the election cause one of Australia’s greatest prime minister bob Hawke has died and will flood the media news for the next few days
  10. Nah, doesn't matter, it just gives me another Joshua Tree t-shirt to go with my 20th anniversary and two 30th anniversary t-shirts. A man can never have too many black U2 shirts.
  11. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Setlist very similar to 2017 if it is called TJT tour. Does depend on whether they commit to playing the whole album again this time, if not then things could change quite significantly because they wouldn’t be playing the album in one section. But if they do decide to play the full album what else are they going to drop? I think it will be pretty much the exact same as the final show of the 2017 tour minus best Thing, I Will Follow and probably ultraviolet will get dropped (one of the best songs in the Setlist as well) and they’ll probably play mysterious Ways which missed an entire tour for the first time last year and maybe one other song, maybe they’ll just keep I will follow in. For those thinking they’ll want to include more of the recent material there was plenty of shows in 2017 that featured nothing post HTDAAB and if the focus is strongly on JT I think it will be the same again.
  12. Can't see them doing the full Joshua Tree album ala 2017.

Would have to ignore a lot of the last two albums if that was the case, if they plan to cover the usual suspects aswell Vertigo, Beautiful Day etc.
