1. I know there's a few members who maybe wish that a topic like this was around in 2012, particularly those wishing to share their end of year lists.

Here at U2start, we like to accomodate fans who listen to music other than U2. We have topics ranging from The Beatles to Muse, Springsteen to Coldplay, and Pearl Jam to The Killers. But it's safe to say that we also listen to music that falls outside of the common U2 fan. Music that doesn't have it's own topic and maybe isn't popular enough to warrant a new topic.

So, feel free to use this topic to discuss new releases, new artists, tour announcements and whatever else 2013 delivers. But of course, please keep specific band chat to the relevant topics if possible.

I'll kick us off with a simple one: What are you looking forward to most in 2013?

Me? I'm looking forward to plenty of input from you guys
  2. Admittedly, only U2.

And maybe Arctic Monkeys, but I think that will happen in 2014 anyway.
  3. Stereophonics new album mostly

New albums from The Joy Formidable and Foals, and Bastille's debut album I'm also looking forward to
  4. Obviously a U2 album, but also:

    RH Reissue(?)
    Depeche Mode Album
    Pearl Jam Album
Mad Season Album (and Above reissue)
    Nirvana In Utero Reissue
    Fleetwood Mac Rumours Reissue

I think i'm missing some albums/reissues, but those are the ones that popped into my head first!

and i'm looking forward to tours by U2 (maybe), Depeche Mode and Pearl Jam
  6. Looking forward to DM more than U2 at the moment... I just don't believe a new album's near completion. (Would LOVE to be proven wrong though!)

From the Angel of Love snippet they put out, I think this album will be really good. Hoping i'll get to see them on tour
  8. Already 5 albums in to 2013 and I haven't been completely impressed yet but there are some stellar releases happening this year. Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, hopefully U2, Local Natives, maybe Pearl Jam...the list goes on, and on, and on.

    This is a nice idea.
I'd appreciate it if really everybody saves chat-attitudes for the artist's specific topic and maybe even only writes something here when he/she REALLY wants people to listen to something. Some additional information why etc is also very welcome.
But then I also hope that people do not reply if they liked it or not here, but also only in the specific artist topic.
That way we can keep an overview ; I don't like searching 2 or more pages to get to the reply (=artist one suggests to check out and why) I want to know about.

    What? 5 albums? Which ones?

I can't really say now apart from hopefully U2, Pearl Jam and Metallica. I'll have to wait until the end of the year before I have a list full of my preferences.

Although I am looking forward to hear how Biffy Clyro's double album effort pans out.

I'm posting my top 20 of 2012 on my blog if anyone is interested - thereviewal.wordpress.com - and I'lll be reviewing albums weekly in 2013. Hopefully I'll have done a Matt by the end of the year and listened to almost 100 albums.
  11. Just finished my sixth.

    Yo La Tengo: Fade (2.5/5)
Beach Fossils: Clash the Truth (2.8/5)
    Christopher Owens: Lysandre (3.1/5)
Jim James: Regions of Light and Sound of God (3.1/5)
Grouper: The Man Who Died In His Boat (2.7/5)
Foxygen: We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic (2.2/5)
  12. Pretty obscure albums then. I'll pass, I'll start mine next Monday when albums are released in the UK.
