  1. i'd add Zoo Station it's almost up there close to the ZooTV version with that Brian Eno's Intro, i loved it, i would like that intro in the new album.

Honestly? Absolutely not. Listen to Bono’s singing and compare it with any of the best versions of songs and it’s not even in the same league. Add to that a different drummer which is very noticeable and even in the performances where edge and Adam are tight the band are on to a loser. So cruel was the song I thought had a chance of being better since it was full band but the version on the AB live cd is much better even though it isn’t the full song (it’s just not a great live song so shortening it is a better option). As others have mentioned One wasn’t too bad, the broadcast performance surprised me and I liked Bono’s voice on that but it’s still not in the same league as the zoo tv performances or Slane castle performance or even 360 performances.

Zootv cannot be beaten in my opinion, but acrobat was better than E&I, One performed better than most recent tours and ultraviolet way better than 2017 and 2019. Nod to mysterious ways which is better than anything and including 360
  4. I should have said mysterious ways was better than anything post and including 360. The zootv version is the definitive live version

Ultraviolet was nothing short of horrific with brams different drumming parts and Bono’s singing on the song seems to get weaker by the year. On the next tour they should put a big emphasis on playing songs Bono can still do justice, I don’t know if any of Achtung baby features in that category.
  6. Bono sounded great at the 3 sphere Shows I went to at the end of October. For those who, for whatever reason , didn't go to a Sphere show, the cell phone recordings on You Tube don't fully capture U2's sound at Sphere.

What about the broadcast and iem recordings that are clear but be still doesn’t sound great in? Zoo station for example isn’t a difficult song to sing yet he couldn’t control his voice at the end of verses.
  8. I was not at those shows fortunately!
  9. I think there’s a lot of people that say ‘you can’t judge it properly because you weren’t there’ but I’d say the opposite is at least equally true because being there can make you bias as well. How many people have to defend the elevation slane show or the zoo tv Sydney show by saying ‘you had to be there’?
  10. Here are the facts: Bono has had shows where he sings great and shows where he does not sing great on every tour since U2 formed. Additionally, I wasn't as enchanted with his voice on the Elevation Tour as some people were and are.

I’d say that is almost true except there are certain songs that he can’t sing that well anymore regardless of whether his voice is on better form or not. Love is blindness as another example he never managed to control his voice throughout a full performance at the sphere. It’s his mid-low range he’s struggling with and that’s consistent every night of the sphere shows. There’s some songs that just find a sweet spot almost where he can sing throughout and it sounds great, but AB is a bad album for his voice nowadays. Peace on earth was great as a positive example.

Perhaps Remy can do a poll where we rank Bono's voice during all of U2's tours. We should take an average night's performance of all songs on that tour into consideration. I would think Bono goes to extra lengths to sound as best as possible when they are recording a show for future release.
