1. Who let the Edge out??? uuuh-uh
Sorry, it's blasphemy to have that awful song with Crystal Ballroom in the same sentence. But seriously, if you were missing Edge going wild, here he is.
  2. Can't wait to hear it. At a summit at work. Get to go home tomorrow.

This makes me want to hear it - but not spoiling it until I get the CD tomorrow.
  4. This song makes me just want two things for this next tour (besides to hear this song live...so really three). I'll do with one of the two.

    Thing 1:

    + a real (not-acoustic) version of Desire

    or

    Thing 2:

    + anything.

Or throw a combination of all three together and open the encore with this song because it would make for a kick ass encore opener.

  5. I'm weakening mate, so damn tempted to listen to the new tracks.

  6. I couldn't do it

this song is great too, boys are in a rich vein of song writing form at the moment.
  7. I'm sure they listened to Two Door Cinema Club, Foals and other current bands before/while recording this song. Which is amazing for a song referring to the band's first concerts at an old Dublin venue...
  8. And well, I hadn't read this part of the Irish Central article (I just skipped to Iris)... It's just broken my heart:

“Life begins with the first glance,
the first kiss at the first dance,
all of us are wondering why we’re here,
    in the Crystal Ballroom
    underneath the chandelier . . .
We are the ghosts of love
    and we haunt this place,
in the ballroom of crystal lights,
everyone is here with me tonight,
    everyone but you.”

“I need to tell you something really weird about this song,” Bono told the Irish Times. “It’s called The Crystal Ballroom, which used to be the name of McGonagles in South Anne Street [now knocked down]. A whole generation of Dubliners would go to the Crystal Ballroom for dances, and many couples first met there. My mother and father used to dance together in the Crystal Ballroom, so that song I just sang you, which hasn’t been released yet, is me imagining I’m on the stage of McGonagles with this new band I’m in called U2 – and we did play a lot of our important early gigs there. And I look out into the audience and I see my mother and father dancing romantically together to U2 on the stage.”

“I have just realised that my mother died 40 years ago yesterday, and here we are today playing our new album about Dublin, which is about my family and what happened to me as a teenager.

“My mother died when she was at her father’s funeral. She had a cerebral aneurysm. I was only 14. And in this song I am singing, “Everyone is here tonight, everyone but you.” And it’s me wanting to see my mother dance again in the Crystal Ballroom and for her to see what happened to her son.”

i was thinking the same, just played it to my sister (who also loves Foals/TDCC) and she liked it.
  10. Love this song. Definitely worthy of inclusion on the album. Reminds me a bit of Arcade Fire's Here Come The Night Time. Bono's singing is nicely understated too. A slinky number, a potential dance floor friendly tune too, appropriately enough. Can't wait for the 12".
  11. Yes that story is amazing Sergio, gives so much meaning to the song.

I agree about the potential dance tune as well, a remix would be nice one day.
