    It's not a "The best 100 songs of all time" list, it's more "My favorite 100 songs of all time" list...

    Different words: think of it as "if you made a 100 song play list that YOU -and no one but you- would listen to, what are the songs that you'd like to be on that list?", instead of thinking "which are the 100 songs you'd submit for being published in a music magazine".
    I tried to go somewhere down the middle - The Fly is my favourite U2 song, which is why I put it at #2, but it's nowhere near their greatest song - that is, of course, Streets, the greatest song of all time, but Bad, WOWY, One, Mysterious Ways, NYD, etc, are all 'greater' songs. So I tried to balance somewhere in between 'what are my 50 favourite songs' and 'out of all the songs I listen to, what are the 50 greatest'?

  4. So it looks like I don't have enough songs from enough artists to break past a top 10 with the 10% rule, so I guess I'll be sticking to that. It'll be tough to pick a single song to represent each band, yet alone ranking them.

    You mean (for example) you have more than 10 songs from a certain artist to put in your top 100 list?

    You can't make it to 20 or 25?

    Obviously there will be songs on my list that I like less than say my 11th favourite U2 song (assuming I do a top 100) but I don't think I could do just a top 10. As you already stated, it will indeed be tough choosing just one song for each of your favourite 10 bands.
  7. I listen to a lot of soundtracks (movies, video games, etc.) and I tend to keep lower ranked albums on rotation to avoid oversaturating my playlists. I think I can make a top 20 since doing a top 10 and limiting myself to one song per band just doesn't feel right to me.

    Yeah, I will admit that my list won't be that different from the one four years ago (when we had the 10% rule).
