Oh well, guess if I was that bothered I wouldn't continue to follow, I think I do cause there are still such great things.... I love how WTSHNN starts, and the visuals thourhout TJT segments are pretty cool. Love how NYD sounds on this tour (I was getting tired of that one).... I think it's just the third act that is hard,as I feel like it's not that focused as the rest of the show.
I'm not against the general idea of variation in fact I love variation when it happens with u2 but this is a tour to focus on TJT and I do think that segment is stealing the show. I think with the quality of the songs on TJT which they are playing night in night out that's 11 reasons to come back and listen each night right there. The opening 4 as well are classics, yeah I would have preferred ASOH last night but Bad was incredible. I guess the encore is take it or leave it if your picky about your u2 eras. Miss Sarajevo, Beautiful Day, Elevation and vertigo wouldn't make my top 50 u2 tracks but I did enjoy them all last night. Ultraviolet and one, nothing to complain about there really, Ultraviolet maybe not being performed to 360 level but still one of there best songs, one is a classic that rightly isn't getting dropped after missing a few shows last tour and then again with The Little Things for me it's one of the highlights of the shows but some people are complaining about it, try pleasing everyone though, it can't be done. However I can understand if people wouldn't want to listen in every night and missing only Mysterious Ways tonight makes it a lot easier knowing I only attended night 1, but if I was there tonight I still would have had as equally a great time as night 1 and my first thought wouldn't be lack of setlist rotation. Opinions, opinions lol.
  2. I do prefer this version of MW over the I&E version, which felt rushed.
  3. My Ultraviolet benchmark is Zoo TV tour so this one is very disappointing by comparison and the whole women equality ambush just destroys the vibe for me (not that I'm against equal opps it's just not this song)

  4. There's absolutely positively 0 reasons why there aren't 4-5 rotations for a two night stay in a city. All the u2 lawyers here could say whatever they want but it's inexcusable. I mean shit even IWF isn't an option anymore!

I understand that the song certainly is being made to fit the theme as opposed to naturally fitting the theme but the tribute to Jo Cox last night was really touching I thought. Admittedly when I've watched previous shows on YouTube the women equality message in relation to ultraviolet has done nothing for me but then I've still enjoyed the song once they've started playing it.

Exactly. Playing the JT album is not an excuse to sleep on their fame and go on auto-pilot the rest of the show. They are capable of more and that's what I want from them.
  7. I still think the setlist variation comments are harsh on them. What about the zoo tv era, a lot of people including myself put that as there best but during the first 3 legs there was very little happening with the setlist. It wasn't really until zooropa came out they started to mix things up and even then for the last leg it was the same sets every night.
  8. Issue for me is they have such an amazing catalogue of songs yet we get elevation, beautiful day , vertigo on sleep mode when we could be smashing out - Gloria , Spanish Eyes, Velvet dress , etc and rotation of loads , Stay , 11 o'clock, party girl, Surrender?
  9. Ended with One?
  10. Having a pint back at the hotel now. Another good night, similar energy to last night although I was seated this time, so it came across as a bit more subdued. As discussed I do wish they would mix up the setlist abit more; I was convinced it would be IWF after UV.

Since then theyve released 6 albums worth of material. A lot if those 80s songs didn't fit in on that tour. This is no excuse. 3 of those 6 albums get completely ignored. After the incredibly serious main set, which is great, losen the fuck up. I'm not asking for acrobat or some deep cut ,you can fill that encore with hits 10 different ways for 10 shows without a repeat and still keep a stadium in the palm of your hand.
  12. I'm surprised there wasn't a little more variation. I know they will never be Pearl Jam, but they usually change a few songs when playing two nights in a city.

Beautiful Day/Elevation/Vertigo may well be overplayed, but the majority of the stadium loved them last night. (Personally I thought Vertigo was awful.) However I'm sure there are numerous songs that would fit well in the encore rather than repeating the same tracks on autopilot.
