Experience and Innocence tour
Legs (3): Promo tour, Leg 1: North America, Leg 2: Europe
Shows: 79
  1. I would love to hear some rarities. But this will be the first tour Im going with my girlfriend. So for her I am glad that BD, One, Pride and Vertigo is on the set-list.
  2. These disappointing E&I rehearsals makes me think of a quote a band called U2 from a remix of their song Numb:

"They want new material. Our stuff's been repeated too many times. You can't sell the same thing to the same crowd forever."

  3. I think I'm going to leave setlist spoilers from now until my gigs in October. I've got a general idea of the songs they've rehearsed but I have no idea on the order of the set, other than the repeat of the 2015 section which is hugely disappointing.

I have to be honest, Manchester will be my 5th and 6th U2 gigs and I'm still very much in a position where I still love hearing the warhorses, so apart from the (criminal) absence of Streets I'm certainly happy with that aspect of the set. I do strongly believe in Elevation being dropped (or a rotation at most) and I would definitely take COBL out. They also need to have more faith in their catalogue. I mean...Discotheque, SYCMIOYO and Wild Horses were SINGLES and they haven't seen the light of day in years. They underestimate the casual audience. I don't have the fondness of Acrobat that many have on here but it would be good to see simply as it's something a bit different.

Despite my gripes...there are so many songs I'll be hearing for the first time from the sound of the current rehearsal sets, and given that I love the new album I'm more than satisfied in that regard.

All we can do is wait and see how the tour develops, which I'm sure it will. Let's hope they tweak some things as the tour goes on.

Good luck on avoiding spoilers for six months!
  5. Im glad that Europe is the second leg. Hopefully by then Red Flag Day, Summer of Love, Little things and Landlady would have made their way into the setlist.

It's usually the other way round sadly They start playing the max number of songs from the album they're promoting and then some of them start dropping off the setlists as the tour progresses.

Like the 360 show. Compare Barcelona with Moncton. Vastly different
  8. Yep. And some SOI songs were performed only in the US in 2015 and never made it across the pond... Hurts to see. Oh anyway.

I was looking at that the other day and I think the original JT tour was the last one to feature more from the album on closing night than opening night, I suppose after the release of Zooropa they played more from that by the end of tour as well but yeah generally the number drops. I think on this occasion going by the Setlist structure showman might not make it til the end of the tour but the rest of them I would imagine stick around.

Not sure, Showman would be a great moment for fan to periscope.
I hope they have other things in mind.
  11. Complaining about U2 reapeating songs in their setlists over the years while this discussion is repeating it self over here over the years...?

Haha, good point. Yeah it's a recurring discussion – exactly because it's a recurring issue with their setlists!
